I am starting this posting for a general chat. My birds are just fine but still waiting for Tango's flight feather to grow back in. On breeders advice I am starting a product by Avitech called Featheriffic. Its a supplement for feather growth often given in conjunction with Avicalm. My kitty is approaching 13 years of age and she continues to be healthy. She does show signs of aging (like me) such as replacing black fur with gray, laying in the sunshine and napping more often.

I guess many of you are making plans for holiday shopping and cooking. I am making pumpkin cookies today but holiday shopping is out do to lack of finances. Last year was sad for the same reason. Will try to hand make gifts again.

So tell us what is up in your life please.

As for me tending and keeping watch on the baby bird and eggs not hatched yet, and doctor appointments all week for all of us ... Humans in the house.

Next spring I will be able to put up an 8 ft octagon outside aviary. Not going to worry about getting it up now even though there are a couple more days of nice weather, just have to be patient and wait. Jody will be fine in there, maybe Donovan too but Kalea I won't be able to leave her in it unattended as the wire is not strong enough and she would be able to make a mess of the wire.

Oh Kobe and Tango are back at mating again. Tango has been begging Kobe to feed her as if she was a chick with wings flapping and begging noises. Does this mean she is hormonal? Frankly I think he got tired of her begging and gave her a heave ho so to speak.

Well I'm starting the winter preps. Changing out the summer wardrobe, bringing in the summer furniture and searching on the cooking sites for new recipes for some comfort foods to get us through to Spring. Haven't cleaned up the gardens yet but hopefully I will get to it later in the week.

We got back from Disney Friday so we are just getting back into the swing of things. Had a fun Halloween and then put all the decorations away Sunday. (We have a lot, Halloween is my favorite) Jef is in London for work this week so it is just me, the kids, dogs & Rosie. Rosie is very happy to have me to herself without Jef to compete with.

The rest of the week is school, work, football, Girls on the Run. Kids are off Thurs & Fri so that will be fun. :)

Tim and I have been busy working in the yard, we got bushels of peppers from our garden, I've been jarring most days. Tim and I spent a few hours covering equipment, wood piles and vehicles in the yard with tarps, the rain has COME!! Amigo has been enjoying the showers that came off and on all day today :).

I'm starting to plan my Thanksgiving menu, I think we will be going vegan this year and I've found some great looking recipes on Pinterest. I will be the only person at dinner who isn't vegetarian or vegan so I'm going to roast myself a whole chicken! (I love leftovers :) )

Some of you may have the Subway store in your area. Yesterday was "sandwich" day. For every sub and drink you buy you get another one for free. So I went with some neighbors and I think everyone else was in the store too. The line went fast and I am sure the workers were exhausted at the end of the day. We gave away the extra subs to needy people here where I live. I ended up with an extra one after I was stuffed. They really do not keep well but I will try to eat some of it today.

Jess and I tried firehouse subs yesterday..maybe I'm just a dumb montanan but I don't recall mayo being put on a cheese steak?? Beef cheese onions and peppers with mushrooms at some places..needless to say..I saved myself a few thousand calories and didn't eat it..

So..some of you may know that once I was pretty large...obese..I lost a bunch of weight and due to great genetics and an insane amount of luck..I don't have a hanging skin issue..but I'm still trying to get the last few lbs of ab fat off so I can see my abs..

Well..I have a strict eating plan that a rarely stray from..but its called cheat day and your body needs that..well..I get busy and I skip a meal, or a don't eat my rice or whatever.. I keep doing this until I'm running on 2200 calories per day..not good. At my output and with the muscle mass I have on my body..I need at least 3900 calories per day according to a professional nutritionist..

So what does this mean..my body is not letting go of the fat that I could've already burned..and its eating my muscle tissue (I could be an even bigger monster if I ate) and my metabolism is slowed to a snail's pace ....so this can cause internal organ problems too..and if my body is holding all this weight at a reduced caloric intake..it makes heart problems..(even though I'm at 17 % body fat) in the future something I have to worry about..

Bodybuilding does do this to some..but only if they're stupid or using PEDs or insulin.. I'm not..so I've also given myself anemia from this low calorie eating..I never though I'd have a problem for eating enough to stay healthy..but with no appetite, you don't wanna eat..and it keeps going..force feeding yourself is unpleasant to say the least..

Sure sounds like you know what to do. I would be a vegetarian if it weren't for holidays like Thanksgiving. It has to be healtherier that bacon, port, beef or chicken. I do eat chicken but only organic. Has anyone read or watched Knives over Forks? If you have not put it on your to do list.

The weather is finally turning cold here so I can stop with the AC and save a bit of $$. Tango is finally dropping some of her old clipped flight feathers. I am hoping the Feathiffic supplement helps grow them back so she can fly.

Guess I am luck because again this year I will have 3 Thanksgiving meals. One with family, one here with the other seniors and a local church will deliver one if you sign up for it which I did. How about everyone else?

Dianne - very nice!! We will have a small Thanksgiving here. Just the Fitz Farm and my parents. Then Jef & the kids will head to my sister in laws for dessert while I recover from cooking. The next day we head to Nantucket for a couple days. My mil hosts an annual trip there to kick off the holidays.

Dave - must be something in the air. Our clothing dryer died a couple weeks ago and we had to replace it.

Goodness Cedardave you surely have plenty happening to keep you busy. I'm glad your furnace is fixed and hopefully you can get the other things done without too much trouble. You know what they say, "when it rains, it pours."
spiritbird So glad to hear her wing feathers are beginning to renew. Three Thanksgiving dinners, wow!
kendrafitz A nice dinner with the family is great and getting to stay at home is my favorite.
As I work in retail Thanksgiving has always unfortunately been a work day :(. It doesn't have the same feeling as it did before I started in retail but we do manage to find time to count our blessings ever year and enjoy a nice dinner with enough to feed us a few days with leftovers :).

I am still fighting the urge to get a female pearl cockatiel. But I will be working the next three "major" holidays which I am happy about. All 3 holidays will be over time and on thanksgiving and new years I will be working doubles which means that in addition to getting over time pay for all three holidays I will also be getting holiday pay. Holiday pay and overtime are each time and a half. Meaning I could POTENTIALLY be getting triple time while I highly doubt that will be the case because I like to budget ahead I decided to budget my scheduled hours (meaning it could always change) and the holiday pay I left the overtime out of the equation. But I basically figured out that I will have enough money to get a couple more repairs on the car done (i.e. replacing battery and the battery tie down because the battery my dad put in the car is too big and is rubbing on some wires which is bad. I will be able to also fix EITHER the heater or replace the soft/spongy hoses). So that is what is currently going on. I am SO glad I will be working a double on thanksgiving because I hate thanksgiving it is my least favorite holiday (ironically it is the favorite holiday of the guy I am seeing).
