These tiny birds are one of only four species that studies have shown activity to teach their young. A mother teaches her unborn chicks a special call or "password" they are to use for food begging when they are hungry. This ensures the chicks get more food then the hatchlings of other species that may invade the nest.

I am sure there are many wonderful things about nature we have not learned. I wonder if our companion birds teach their young a password.
