So today I moved the cage back to its original place and set the heat lamp back up well while cleaning house I had all animals caged/crated so I didn't have a dog into what I'm cleaning or a bird flying somewhere it shouldn't. Then I hear Riley screaming he had one of his wings caught in the cage bars and yes it is the proper bar spacing for cockatiels. Aside from the fact I was worried about sever injury to him. It brought on flash backs to how another bird I had 5 years ago died. Halloween (that was her name) died from getting her wings caught and tangled in her cage bars (also proper spacing) while I was at work and died on the way to the vet. Needless to say I was a bit freaked out to see Riley caught. But in time it took me to get the less than 2 feet to the cage Riley was free from the cage bars I of course took him out immediately. Since he was still freaked out he decided to fly away from me which is highly unusual but was good as it definitely meant the wing is not broken. I kept him out while I finished cleaning
He hasn't been favoring his wing at all and is currently sitting in front of the heat lamp preening
He has been eating and drinking normally so I am confident he is fine however I will be keeping an eye on him for the next few days.
