Hurricane Patricia is now the strongest ever recorded in that region with sustained winds over 200 miles per hour. There are many parrot species inhabiting there. Waves are expected to be over 40 feet high.
I always worry about the wildlife in situation like this and we usually never hear about them. That area is where Linnies come from. Hurricane Patricia bears down on Mexico - CNN.com ([Users must be registered and logged in to view attached photos or hyperlinks])
Watch the little video of CNN weather man talking with his map about the impacts

I pray we do not have anyone on the forum who lives in that area.

I had no idea that is where linnies came from. The loss of wildlife will be huge. Hopefully all residents got the warning to evacuate. It is a devastating storm on the satelite imagery and reporting.

If this hurricane warning doesn't give you chills I don't know what would:

"Preparations to protect life and property in the hurricane warning
area should have been completed, or rushed to completion, as
tropical storm conditions are spreading across the area and
hurricane conditions are about to occur."

This storm moved incredibly quickly to make landfall and is pummeling them right now. I know it is all over the news. The waters around the Eastern Pacific basin was super heated due to El Nino, they predicted a super hurricane for a few months now.

Praying everyone in the zone of impact has evacuated. It's just so incredibly sad.

Some people say the wildlife including birds instinct tells them to leave. But do they understand el Nino?

This is so scary, they say their computer models failed to give them good information about the path of the storm. As advanced as we seem to be we are no match for what comes our way. I pray for those in harms way, man, beast and birds!

I've always wondered if the birds would know something was about to happen in the wild, it makes sense that they would. I would bet money..that they know EVERYTHING!

I can tell you that our birds start acting strange when it's going to do something severe...they're very receptive to pressure changes...we stayed through ike ..and all of our birds were very quiet..but didn't want to be handled ...

I've noticed that, too, Brandon.

I get severe migraines when pressure drops. Then I know a storm is due.
