So I woke up before everyone else but the dogs this morning. Let them out, creeped around making coffee as quietly as I could. Came to family room tosit and enjoy my coffee in the dark. Basically hiding from Rosie so I can just chill and relax before serving the queen. (Mind you she can see the kitchen and family room clearly from her cage. She must be too tired to demand I get her yet)
It just occurred to me how ridiculous that is. Does anyone else have experience like this? Hiding from your owners for whatever reason?

Haha we have to hide the fact that we are carrying coats and shoes and are getting ready to go out otherwise we get a very clingy parrot attached to us.

Good Morning Fellow Early Bird!
Kendra do you not cover Rosie cage at night? This is exactly us in the mornings, in fact, hubby wears a headlight to make his coffee!! I use a little flashlight. We creep around tip toeing in the dark not to disturb Rosie. I have to say she is covered and I know she can hear us. Sometimes I'll whisper to her, tell her "I love da bird" very softly and I can hear her clicking her tongue. She starts to stir around 7 - 7:30 which is her usual wake up time. But we are usually up from 4:30 - 5 am. We are really lucky to have such a good birdy.

You two are so entertaining. I can just picture you both in the early mornings trying to get things done before your birds wake up! Especially the headlight.

Ahh...it is nice to know I am not alone in hiding!!
Jean-Pierre - I have to sing Rosie's song for Mommy going out to get her in her cage. "Snoozie time, time for little Rosie to taaaake a snooze....." to the tune of Closing Time. Since it is a song all about her, she seems ok with going in and me leaving. If I don't sing it, she will put up a fight. Lol
PeachyDoll - no, we don't cover Rosie. She is in the dining room, with clear views of the entire downstairs. But she is far away enough from the family room that she isn't bothered at night. If she hears/sees me in the morning, she generally tells me she wants out. Unless it is really early, then she ignores me. ;) The headlamp/flashlight thing is hysterical!! You do have a good birdy and she has awesome parents!!!
This is a cute post! :). Yes, I can also relate. Our birds are tucked into their own room at night, curtains drawn and door closed. When I come upstairs to start the tea in the morning, it is on tippy-toes, while Tim takes a shower downstairs. We have a creaky floor board between the kitchen and the bathroom and if I don't place my foot in the perfect spot..it will creak! That's when the pterodactyl screams and the "hi there" calls start!

I have tried to shut the door very quietly but it's no use the key hits the lock and bam the switch flips lol.... oh well I guess we know he love us. Lol

I think the only way we can hide is if we do nothing but breathe. Sometimes when I come home after work, hubby has dinner ready so I sit down after washing up and try to have a meal without sharing. Forget about it!!! Soon as I walk past the closed door Lady will start fussing and I know in my minds eye that she is bouncing up and down with excitement because she knows its me.

Sometimes I eat my carry out in my car Haha with 5 birds by the time they get a piece I have none. Yes I know what you mean.
Funny that it seems they always want what we have. I guess it's part of why we say they are like little children.
