What you need in order to make this toy:

* a plank of untreated wood (I use 2X4s from a lumber store)
* cut the wood into chunks and pre-drill holes
* BIRD SAFE color (OPTIONAL)
* untreated Sisal rope and/or stainless chain
* large Marbella beads
* HUGE, natural Retriever role/rawhide
* STAINLESS quicklink

That this is MASSIVE! And awesome! Also, where did you get the safe dye? It seems to be specifically made for bird toys? (The labels)

I bought it here: [Users must be registered and logged in to view attached photos or hyperlinks]

Yes, it is for bird toys. I had tried SO many food colors, but THIS stuff works so much better and lasts a long, long time. :)

Looks great, but ill add if you want to use nickle plated chain and quicklinks you may as well just as stainless is sometimes harder to find and much more pricey.:)

Wendy, do you just use a paint brush or do you dip the wood?

Hi Susan. Wendy dips the wood.
