I have an Alexandrine who have been with me for a month, stepping up is okay but the problem is, whenever he is on my hand and his cage is around, he will always fly away from my hand and back to his cage.
How can I end this problem? It's really frustrating and I didn't encounter this type of behavior before and I can't find any answer for this on the Internet :( Please help!

Hi Si - I don't really know anything about Alexandrines. How long has he been with you? Maybe stay out of the area his cage is in when you want to have interaction for now?

Food is a great motivator, a stash of his favourite in your pocket offered at regular intervals should encourage him to think you are a better place to perch than his cage.
Cautionary note: beware of the consequences, a fat bird and poop all over your clothes. Make sure the food is part of his balanced diet and let him go back to the cage for comfort breaks.

Yes a good treat will often motivate a bird and he focuses on that, not what is the normal activity. We often suggest you train a bird in another room away from the cage. Have you tried this?
I agree with what the others have said. If I try and work with Lady and she can see her cage, forget about it! She is what I call a cage potato, if her cage is within her sight that is where she wants to be.
Do you have a table top stand perhaps?

Definitely train away from the cage. Go to a completely different room he feels comfortable in. The cage is a comfort zone and they can really get too attached. Just like they can get too attached to people and never want on their cage. Like everyone said food is great for training ,but don't let him come to expect something all the time , it's a treat. Also when training there has to be a mutual respect . You want him to train and he will but it's going to take time . If he starts getting antsy stop. Other wise he won't want to cintinue. Make the sessions sort 10-15 mins . He will feel that you respect him and his needs and will be more willing to train in the future.

Yup, still here. Thank you all for the great advices, I will try training him away from the cage and hopefully get him out of his comfort zone :)
Remember what Jessica said, short sessions. And be patient, this is new and will take some time. Keep us posted on how you guys make out. We are always happy to hear about the results.

Try to train in a quiet place too..distractions and things that startle the bird will make it very uneasy. If the bird is on edge, then it won't give you any kind of focus..
