There is a very interesting article in todays newspaper. It is an innovated idea for preserving produce that stems from an Indian spice with antimicrobial qualities. Spice is not named. The product is called FRESH PAPER and is selling on Amazon and other stores. This paper is infused with this spice and keeps produce fresh for 2 to 4 days longer than normal. Example you can put a piece of this paper in a carton with berries and they will stay fresh for your birds to eat much longer. The company name is Fenugreek.

Interesting..I'm glad you also posted the Consumers Report. The only thing I really know how to do to keep produce (cilantro, parsley, lettuce, greens, etc.) fresh for longer is to wrap it in damp paper towels and put in a plastic bag kept in fridge..it will stay fresher longer. I've never tried that method with fruits, though.

Mare that is what I basically do. I never wash the produce until ready to eat. It helps to keep them fresh when they are on the dry side.
