View Full Version : Some Afternoon Sun

I took Rosie out to our gazebo for some afternoon sun. It is a really nice day, not too hot or humid and she was completely soaked from our shower.

I have taken her out in her new crate a few times this summer. She didn't love it, but went along. I put a rope perch in last week and she decided NO WAY! I let that go but today she wasn't getting any sun in her window and was wet and shivering. So I just put her in (with much protesting from Rosie) and we came outside. She is now a very happy diva. Sunning and preening as happy as can be.

*** I do want to make a note about the crate size. We have gotten her a new fairly small dog crate for transport and short outside visits. Mind you she has an outside cage and an outside x large dog crate that we no longer use. I got her the smaller size so I can load her up in the house and not have her out until we are back in again. We had a near disaster last year and I don't want to risk carrying her outside uncrated. Since I am on the small side, I can't lug the big one without banging her around. So I am aware that in most cases this crate would be way too small for a GW. But in this case, I figure it is better than nothing.

Thanks ladies, she enjoyed herself and was happy to come back in. :)

Mare - she does have pretty colors. She was still wet in the pics so her blues look grey though.

Great photos. I wouldn't worry about the size of the cage, it does its job and she is happy in it. Its not as if she was spending half her life in there.

I agree Jean-Pierre. :) I was just worried someone might see it and think I was incredibly mean to have her in such a small area. Or worse, think it would be ok to keep a large bird in an inadequately small area long term.

As a side note, I am always amazed at how AWESOME she smells after spending time in the sun. Has anyone else noticed this with their guys/gals? Or am I the only strange bird sniffer here? Jef always rolls his eyes when I mention her smell. Lol

Now Rosie wants you to build her an outside aviary with lots of room. Of course you may have to install some type of security. All you need is $$.
