The fires have been devastating, the "Rough" fire is over 126,000 acres and only 31% contained. We have them north and south of us here in Central California and it's been the worse summer of my life. :(. The air quality is..

This pic was taken at 8:15am yesterday morning, the sun couldn't even cast a shadow through the smoke. I know many folks that are moving away for a few days a week just to get some fresh air. I'm thinking about packing up the birds and heading to my dad's house in the desert.

Might be a good idea, parrots airways are very sensitive. Stay safe!

The thought of a seven hour drive with mi four amigos..stops me in my tracks! As much as I would love to breathe fresh air with my crew, I don't think it's going to happen. I was just THINKING about it!

The El Nino happening at the moment may bring California a reprieve from the drought over the next couple of years according to the weather forecasters.

Mare: Three weeks ago we had a series of wild fires up here that made the air so hazy that the dotted line in the center of the road wasn't visible beyond several yards during daylight hours. And it wasn't even possible to see the forest trees on the nearby hills. The smoky haze was so dense that it created the sensation of being socked in with thick fog. This condition lasted for nearly a week and I was quite worried about my birds breathing the stuff. The only thing I could think of to do was seal all of the windows and hope for the best. Thankfully we all came through it... a front finally moved in from the coast and cleared the valley.

Jean-Pierre, I certainly hope the forecasters are correct!! Today is giving us a reprieve from the torturous heat and smoke, thank you, Universe! Tony, the air quality here has been bad and as you know, living where you do, it...can...SUCK!!

How frightening those fires are! May the Lord bless and keep all the Firefighters, the residents and animals of California safe.

You are awesome Alice! Your prayers are certainly welcomed! Today was a welcomed reprieve from the usual/normal stuff.

I have been reading that helicopter and plane firefighters have called off missions because of camera drones. Apparently the pilots are worried about the drone owners seeking compensation in the courts if they get their drones knocked out of the sky. Are your judges seriously that stupid that they would even consider the case? I am sure that the people who's lives or property is being protected would soon make a drone pilots see how stupid they are.

Glad things are looking clearer Mare. BTW, I just say the prayers with all my heart, God delivers the results if it is His will!
