I thought it might be interesting to share what life with Rosie is like. I took about 20 minutes of video and edited it down to several snips of video.
What follows is what happened when I was attempting to make bread this afternoon. As soon as Rosie hears the kitchen sink turn on, she knows what she wants...

Does Rosie often flap fly and land on the counter to encourage you to hurry up and get her dang apples? :th_biggrin:

She actually landed on the couch and then climbs my blinds. To answer your question, anytime she feels I am ignoring her demands she will fly...or yell.

That's because she's your bird and lived with you a long time so you've gotten use to her "bossy" ways.
To someone who's never had a large bird like Rosie she is just amazing! So much character in all that beauty.

Oh my gosh, she says it so clearly "APPLE". The girl knows what she wants.
I especially love the mmmhmmmm's when she's eating the tomato, precious.

It is true, I am used to having my life run by a 2 pound dictator. 😀
Thank you, I will tell her what you said. Hopefully she won't let it go to her head.

I've noticed that when she was eating, the mmmm's sounds of her obviously enjoying her apple.
It's like Salsa when Tony is giving him a scritch, he says ahhh or mmmmm, they know what this means!
Brilliant.

Rosie is so cute! When you moved her back to her perch it looked like you had a beak grab on her does she nip or is that just a safety hold in case she might?

The mmmmm or ahhh sound is just the sound she makes when she enjoys something. That she didn't learn. I have a feeling Salsa is the same. She sometimes says OHHH when she likes something, and that is learned. 😊

Charlie - Thanks! Rosie always has one of my hands in her beak. She always has, since she was a baby. I am her "foot toy", she prefers my hand over any toy. I can actually lift her up by her beak.
In this instance, it is easier to get her to her perch. She climbed onto my hand and I grabbed her beak so she couldn't grab my shirt and hang on. If you notice in the videos, I keep my body a good distance from her. I do that for a reason. If I am within grabbing distance either with her beak or feet, she will climb on me. Getting her off then becomes a fun dance with Rosie squalking, grabbing and flapping.
I trust her not to hurt me ON PURPOSE. I am mindful that accidents do happen though. She will pinch me when she wants to nudge me or if I preen a sensitive feather. She generally doesn't break skin unless it is winter when my skin is super dry. I do get bruises here and there from her pinching though. She finds it great fun to pinch me and I can't seem to break the habit. :) But she does not just bite me.

so adorable she is so gorgeous as well and she sure likes her apples
Oh my! Rosie is gorgeous! Such a beautiful bird!! I loved your videos and your relationship with "the boss" :). I love how you integrate Rosie into your home life. Life with my cockatoos is much more complicated. For one..they would NEVER stay on a perch.

Rosie is wonderful and I loved it when suddenly an arm appeared from out of frame and put food in her bowl.
Your videos are a great gap filler whilst Casper is being cared for at the vets. The house seems very empty without him around. We took him in last Friday because he was just sleeping all day and totally not his normal self. The vet said he looked in excellent condition but they needed to investigate. X-rays showed that his liver appeared enlarged but that might be something behind the liver pushing it. White cell count is up so they expect it is something viral. A blood sample has gone away for PPD test but that can take some time as they have to wait until they have a batch before they start.
He is much chattier now and more lively but is not eating or drinking enough to be able to come home yet. We have been taking him his favourite fruit when visiting because we know what hospital food is like.
In the mean time I put my back out trying to lift a big battery so have been struggling to move about but yesterday we dragged his cage outside and gave it a good clean with the pressure washer. Hopefully he won't be too confused by things being in slightly different positions when he comes home.
Margaret is coping well with both her 'boys' being poorly at the same time.
Oh no! Sorry to hear about Casper, I hope it's not serious. :( I know how scary/hard it can be when your baby is ill. As for you, Jean-Pierre, heal up quickly!..

I was wondering where you had been Jean-Pierre. I'm so sorry about Casper. You must be so worried. I'm glad he is perking up and I hope he comes home soon. And to put your back out on top of it. Ugh!!! Sending lots of good thoughts your way.
Please keep everyone updated on Mr Casper.

Thank you Mare and Kendra, I think we are both making slow improvement.

I hope all will be well with Casper and he comes home soon.
You take care too and baby yourself and your back, get Margaret to give you some heat and ice rubs to make you feel better and take it easy.
Oh wow, when it rains it pours, both of you having problems, well I suppose you could look at it as you will both be better soon. Will be looking for the results and how Casper liked the steam cleaning his cage received in his absence.
Hope all returns to normal a.s.a.p.!

I'm sorry to hear about Casper's medical concerns and about your back strain, Jean-Pierre. As you know, we are in a similar situation with Zaf and his diminished appetite. I work at coaxing him to eat things all day. Hopefully Casper will gain more of an appetite soon!
