So I ran into a problem today. I saw this other rose crown conure at the pet store and wanted to just see it. Then I asked to pull her out and when hey did tHey noticed there was poop on he half tail she had so they said they would go clean her and come back. Well when they did they said they would have to keep her in the back as she had broken a tail feather and they needed to deal with it. She remind me of Zooey in the fact about the lost tail feathers and is desperately trying to grow them back. (Pictures attached). Now here is the problem I want this cute little conure but I am a student and really can't afford to add another bird to my flock honestly and I am aware of this. So I need you my beloved bird friends to help tell me no I can't do it....
Thanks

OH MY GOD, of course you can't have her. I WANT HER.

I know you know deep down inside you can't really afford another bird and cage and all the 1st vet visits and everything that comes with bringing a new bird into your life/home. WALK AWAY MY FRIEND, just walk away.

She's a cutie, I would be tempted just like I know you are........ but I know when I am at my limit and I can't save every bird I see and fall in love with.

Walk away Nikki, walk fast.:th_hug8:

I saw this post elsewhere and you have some good responses. Since you are asking this question of yourself you already know the answer. Besides Nick wants her.
He now has room for another bird.

I wish i could.

Unfortunately SPX will be my only and last bird in my life for now and as long as he's with me. I don't want any more birds once my buddy leaves me.

I say I don't want anymore then I get a phone call every week or so asking me if I'd like to take on a rescue. I feel bad for saying no I can't take the bird, because I really want to. But my life is changing so I have to be firm about this decision.

I need to stay away from kijiji and the hundreds of birds for sale in this city! I'm so tempted!!!!

Having more birds is more work, more time away from the ones you have now, more money to house and care for, more training, oh and more love~ but you have to think of the bird, after all their all special and cute and loveable. They are not to be collected!!! (unless your at home all day to care for them and have the room and money).

NO!! Don't do it! I know exactly how you feel and it's so hard to walk away, months down the road you will still be thinking of this bird you passed up in the pet store and hoping/praying that someone came along to give this baby a good life.

I still wonder about a little conure I know I could have given a good home to but passed him up because I already have 3 needy birds. All I can really do is..hope that someone came along to love him and give him a good life...orrrr...I could have bought him myself and have been SURE he had a good life :). I hope this helps :).

Sometimes the best thing you can do is to do nothing.I can tell you from personal experiance that there always will be another special bird that you want......always.I am fortunate in one sence, that my wife is home all the time with our birds. Our son works for us helping feed and water.I am with them as well around my work schedule. My days off are spent cleaning cages and playing with those that I can.No one is ever left out..long days though..we have lots of birds...that pretty much started out by seeing that next special one.The reality is they are all special.I would suggest you enjoy what you have and live vicariously by reading the tales of fellow members.

What an adorable cutie! It's tough to say know I'm sure. I recently had to walk away from a goffin's. I'm sure she will go to a good home.
