Dianne, we saw an ad for a Moluccan cockatoo for sale. The guy said he really didn't want money but needed to price her because he really wanted her to go to a good home. He really was concerned and wanted her to be loved. He had a lot of phone calls about her and several people wanted her for a restaurant entrance or at a petting zoo (wrong environment for a bird that can exert 500lbs of pressure). Anyway we really wanted her so we took pictures of our property and wrote a long resume about how we lived. He said that he had 3 short listed couples but that we were the front runners. A few days later we went to go pick her up 2 hours away, when we arrived she was way up in a 30 foot mango tree. We talked to her for a bit and she began to descend to check us out. My husband approached the bottom of the tree, he noticed she had a ton of ungroomed pin feathers all over her head. He began to preen her and that was it, Rosie had fallen in love.
