Only a few more weeks until my baby comes home and it seems like forever!! How long is the weaning process? My breeder said it can take as long as 16 weeks, maybe more depending on the babies. They're already eating pellets, fruits and veggies and they're only 7 weeks old.

How old was your baby when he/she was done weaning? :)323

What do you mean all set? Haha I have a HUGE cage for such a little bird and I've been making tons of toys. All my friends think I'm crazy because they say my baby looks like a dinosaur. :P I saw your baby Pink, and she's so cute!!!

This is what I've got so far. Cage is about 5' 5" tall!! Any suggestions? More toys? I'm putting in a few more perches.

Looks like you are all set and now just have the waiting (the hard part) :)

Good breeders often keep the babies a couple of weeks after weaning just to make sure they won't regress for their new owners, but that's a good thing.

I think its perfect :) Maybe 2 more toys hanging from the top and 2 perches up higher. Looks nice and big :)

My breeder said she only keeps them a few days but she sends formula just in case and she said she can send more if need be. I think I've been annoying her with all my questions!! Haha

I was planning on putting a few more perches up top and a few more toys, but she said keep everything lower at first because babies are clumsy!! :P

Congrats!!! What a cutie!! Have you picked out a name yet?

I was supposed to get a WBC last summer and I had already decided to name him "Petrie" because the baby pics did INDEED look like a dinosaur, lol. It didn't work out in the end and my sister kept him, so I still get to see him sometimes.

I was thinking Navi, but it kind of sounds like a girl name.

What do y'all think?

You should name him whatever you like.

This is my tip, make sure you feel comfortable saying the name, in baby talk. ;)

Haha I always make sure my animals names are short and sound good in baby talk! I love naming new animals and moving them into my family and heart :) I'm going to school to be a vet but not an avian vet. I love animals!!

Jade when I first got into parrots and outreach programs years ago we had a caique that was apart of the programs I loved him sooo much, and then we decided one day we would have a caique. The day we got pickles it was so amazing he had come from a few homes and had some issues that needed solved but once we got over him I could ask for nothing more!

That's amazing :) I've always loved animals and I've wanted to be a vet. I'm in pre-vet school now but one day I'll get there. The first bird I fell in love with was a blue crowned conure and the Petco down the street when I was a teenager. I saved my money for months to try and buy this BCC but someone bought him before I could. Ever since then I've been researching birds and have loved them. I had a Quaker but I had to give him to my mom since they are illegal in CA. After all the research I've done, I think a caique is the closest personality to what I'm looking for. Cockatoos are a close second but I'm not ready for that.

Haha I can say you are never really ready for a cockatoo all you can do is slightly prepare yourself! Quakers are illegal in PA but I know so many people that have them and just don't say anything and are fine... They are great little birds and don't deserve to be illegal because of the possibility of wild flocks, let them become wild here I'd love that.

There are wild flocks of Quakers in my hometown in TX :) It's pretty cool. Haha I had just joined the military when I moved to CA so I wasn't into trying to break the law. You know, new career and don't want to get in trouble so early on.

And I will post lots of pictures and stories of my new baby when he comes home!!!!!!
