B.C. conservation officials have launched an investigation after video was posted Saturday to YouTube showing an unidentified man jumping on and riding a moose swimming in water.

The video, shot from a motor boat, shows the pursuit of a moose as it crosses a shallow body of water. A man in bathing trunks is on the bow of the boat. As the boat pulls up behind the moose, the man jumps onto its back and rides the struggling animal for 15 seconds before falling off. One of the passengers in the boat can be heard shouting, "I've never seen anything so awesome." Others in the boat can be heard laughing.

David Vince, a conservation officer with the B.C. Ministry of the Environment, says there is a law against harassing wildlife and what's shown in the video is "the ultimate form of harassment." "You can see that the moose is struggling with that fellow on her back. You can see the fright in her eyes," he told CBC News.

They are really making an effort to find this guy and his friends, they have the area figured out where this was filmed so its only a matter of time before someone gives the authority's their identities up.

Apparently fines for endangering or harassing wildlife can be as high as 125 thousand dollars. I hope they find these guys and I hope a judge dumps a serious $$$ fine on them for this.

It would have been fitting if, when he fell off the back of the moose, it kicked him somewhere unfortunate. Darwin would have approved.

Humans can be SO GROSS!!It's absolutely egregious! To unnecessarily frighten and endanger the poor animal... and then while they're at it, to strip its dignity away... and all for the perverse thrill of showing off to human friends (for laughs, FB 'likes', etc.) is simply repugnant! Those idiots are nothing more than a pack of bullies! As I often say, humans are this planet's cruelest of species :(
