Oh my goodness what a bird! I bet molting time is pick up feather time. What do you do with all of them?

Unfortunately that's not moulting. When Rosie was 3 yrs old she plucked her back and chest when her original owner's routine changed dramatically. This carried on for years and she did permanent damage. I just don't see it anymore. She's a beautiful bird with some bald patches and a huge personality. It doesn't effect the quality of her life. I tell her she is the most beautiful bird in the world every day, because to me, she is just that.

I always keep her crest feathers, wing and some of her sweet little head feathers. We keep them in a shoebox.

Rosie is beautiful! She looks like she is in bliss with her wing draped over the cage door, like that :). I see my cockatoo's doing the same thing, sometimes..whether it be a cage door, a branch on a tree or a toy in their cage,,they kind of bliss out with the contact of these objects touching them.

Yes I think it is some sort of sensation for them. She does it a lot.

Thank You. We had a choice of ruby, white, gray or green cages. I thought Rosie would disappear with a white cage, and we didn't want green or gray. I think it compliments here Peachy Highness perfectly. When we got Rosie the cage she came in was old and rusty. We immediately ordered a new one, when it arrived we put her on her hemp rope outside and started opening the packaging of the new cage in front of her. We thought if we included her in the project of assembling the new cage she might take to it more easily. They can be so territorial about their cages. It worked. She couldn't wait to get on it after we assembled it and then washed and dried it.
