Chipper was my little sweetie. He was such a good talker too. I have been watching some of the videos I took of him and tears come down my cheeks. Do you remember my cracker boy?

It's difficult.. I think of avra, Hendrick, summer and tweak..our little budgies...Hendrick and avra lasted 10+ years ...tweak got egg bound..and summer was killed by a stray friggin cat...people call keets a starter bird..I hate that...their lives are just as valuable as any..
It's good to remember.. I think it renews our love and commitment to our FIDS..and we know we'll see them again on down the road :)

These little creatures leave us with a hole in our hearts when they leave us....never forget to fill that hole with all the happy memories you shared together

As that is sweet Dave. Thanks so very much. Do you have sad days remembering certain birds?

I'm with you, I really dislike that term "starter birds" for budgies or any small bird.

Its great you have videos and pics of your Chipper to look back upon. As sad as we feel when we lose a little friend you can always look back and remember the fun and good times that they made your life happy.

Oh yes I have many sad days remembering many lost treasures. We breed as well as rescue a variety of birds from budgies and cockateils,to conures, quakers, greys jardines, amazons eclectus and macaws. We are passionate about our companions and sadly the number of birds one has tends to increase the frequency of loss. Many we have lost over the years came to us and captured a special place in each of our hearts. Those that have passed have typically been sudden and unexpected. All of them leave us with an emptyness....some who have touched us deeply I think about everyday. We are a very clean and dedicated to the wellbeing of our family of feathered friends.I often think losing these guys can be as bad as losing a family member.Keep the memories alive.
Oh Dianne,
I too am sorry you are feeling the pain and loss of Chipper. I remember your pics and videos, he was a wonderful talker and I hope time will heal your pain. One day when you look at one of his sweet pics or videos I hope you see the wonderful life you shared with him and find joy in those times.

Thanks everyone. Chipper only lived for 2 years until the gastric yeast took over his little body. Even a good avian vet could not fix him. I will never get another budgie because of the high likelihood they will have Avian gastric Yeast.
