I bought a bag of apples at store today. What is the best way to prepare some for my bungles and lovebirds? Do I leave the peeling on and just chop it finely since they are small beak birds? And how long to leave it in the cage? Also have some fresh domain lettuce to chop for them. I am new at giving the fresh fruits and leafy stuff!!!!!:23_11_52::23_11_52:

Try cutting small slices that they can hold whilst eating. Or you could try grating them. Oh, and I think the pips are not good for parrots - we always take the core out of apples when we hang them in the cage for Casper to destroy.
The flesh tends to go brown pretty quickly but I don't think it matters, it still tastes good. I suppose it depends how picky your guys are.
Casper usually eats a slice of apple or two before going to sleep at night. We know he is eating apple because it makes a sort of squidge-squidge noise as he sucks all the moisture out and then leaves a brown pulp in the bottom of the dish for us to dispose of.

I have a small foraging toy with holes and I put assorted fresh food in it and every day they have this toy filled. I put in slices of apples and those are truly enjoyed. [Users must be registered and logged in to view attached photos or hyperlinks] I do peel them first.

I have read many recipes that all include vinegar. Some say just vinegar and water solution, some add salt some add baking soda. I even saw one that added GSE (grapefruit seed extract).

Give it a internet search and see which one you like :).

Mmmmm... Tarte Tatin flambéed with Calvados. Not suitable for parrots but the best pudding ever for humans if ever you go to France.
