So I went out to pay some bills and found out that my storage has new owners and they have parrots. I got to talking to them and found out that they had been given a Senegal 2 weeks ago that they needed to re-home right away, It had bitten both the husband and the son really bad. I talked to them about the stress of rehoming and that there was a chance it would settle down. They wanted nothing to do with it so I asked to see the bird. Well the first thing the little monster did was charge to bite me. I turn my hand in to give him the back of it and the charge stopped and he stepped right up. In less then 5 min I had the bird upside down getting tummy pets and wearing my hair band around its neck!! So know I have this un-planned fid. Luckily I had a small cage with sturdy bars and some toys and perches that where in the recycle parrot toy box. This little bird seems to really love me but I have 4 parrots all ready.....:confusion:

Well.. now you have five!! At least for a bit. You got him out of a situation where he was uncomfortable. He seems to feel safe with you. You can always help him feel settled and look for an adoptive home. I understand you are not sure what to do but I recommend just giving him a safe place to land for now and take one day at a time.

Sounds like it was a match made in Heaven, Shelly!! He's a lucky bird to have found someone to love him.

So I got my little demon home and he hates every one but me and has bitten them also. He loves to sucker you in with a invite to scratch his head.I have been regurgitated on and loved from the time I got him out of the travel cage.

Aww...congrats! Sometimes they seem to have a way of finding the right person to give their love to. Thanks for giving him a chance.

Shelly didn't you say in another post somewhere that you had room for one more cage? he is gorgeous. maybe not planned but the best things in life never are and I think Demon is a very cute name. Congrats on your new best friend

Oh, he's a looker!! :love_heart: Did you actually name him Demon?? LOL!!! How appropriate!!!

And here's a tip: never post that you have room for one more cage, that's like telling the Universe to send another bird your way. ;)

But the room for one more cage was for a macaw!!!
After sleeping on it I will most likely keep him. I did have to trim his wings this morning when he decided to fly to me to protect me from my son.

I knew you would cave!!! ;) Just to comfort you, I believe that God brings us to the right place at the right time for a reason. He was obviously meant to be yours. <3

There is an old Native American legend that a horse will always live up to it's name, lol! So in keeping that in mind I'm going to recommend you name him Damon :th_LOL:

He is a cute little guy!

Great idea! Damon he is! ( After bitting the roommate this morning it was "Dam Parrot" so it works!)

You know Audrey you are right and that is exactly why I changed my little female red bellied parrot's name from Chompers when I got her to Tiki. I just thought I would set her up for success. I like the new name Damen and Shelly's rational made me laugh

Today I caved and let Damon on my shoulder. He kissed me all over my face almost like a out of control puppy! No bites at all even when spooked. All he did was puff up and spread his wings to show how big he was and protect me.LOL! He is fast becoming a favorite. I also had no idea they purred. He went to sleep under my chin purring.

we got our senegal as a unexpected gift as well. He is totally my wifes bird, she can really play "rough" with him. I can take him out of his cage but i can not play with him like she can, i have to move slow with him and if the thinks im going to grab him he will squawk and flutter to the ground. he will setup and ride on my finger and thats all i ask. He has never bitten me but has bit everybody else who stuck their fingers in his cage. thing is he is like 23 or soo and has never ever flown.

the bad part is my congo picked up on his high pitch scream and that is her favorite when she wants attention. grrrrrrr.

So happy to hear that Damon has found a soul mate! You are a good person for taking him in, he's a lucky bird, especially for having his own huge macaw size cage!!

LOL he is not in a macaw cage. He is sitting where that cage will some day go.
He has fast become the bird I pull out last so I have more time with him. I can do just about anything with him and he loves it. His fav thing to do is purr while walking back and forth under my chin to self pet when I am busy typing.

I was kidding about the macaw cage! That's wonderful that he has taken to you so well!

My sennie, Bella can be unpredictable. Always the bait and switch. Then POW, she nails you. I have learned to read her, and use a step up stick, so anyone can get her from point a to point b.

So Demon has been put out this weekend as a big blue chicken has been the star of the show. I took him out a while ago and he has checked me out all over to make sure I was ok. He tried to lick my ear out (what is it with these licking birds!!!!) Now he is helping me type. I will put him in a harness here in a few so he can help pick up my daughter at school. 5 birds is my limit! I am so glad the other 3 don't need me this much! LOL
We have been learning to spin with clicker training. The funny thing is he does not want the treat, he just wants a chance to bite the stick!

Demon is a huge momma's boy! He never makes a noise but for this tiny call when he really wants me. He is always up for a cuddle and when I come home late when all the other fids are sleeping he is awake and waiting to see me. I have come home at midnight and had to take him out to cuddle for even 15 min so he knows I was ok and he was ok and we are ok. Poor little guy half asleep and making sure I have 10 fingers and a nose he can kiss! LOL I am really making sure he and the others are getting there time in with me. I love my flock!

A[Users must be registered and logged in to view attached photos or hyperlinks]! What a doll! Is THIS your rescue you told me of? The one in that horrible situation? No wonder he is so watchful of your being ok and this meaning he is fine!!! And I thought Paris had doting ways! ;) That is so great you are making a point to remember the rest of your flock while the drama queen tries to steal the show! :)

Just stumbled across this, how lovely! Sennies are wonderful, and the purr is just heart melting and very disarming! :) Would love to hear more about Damon :)
