Has anyone ever tried this???

Ran across this on a homemade cage disinfectant when cleaning bird cages! Here is the link. [Users must be registered and logged in to view attached photos or hyperlinks] It seems to make since ,gse and lemon juice would both contain citrus acid and similar extracts????? What do you all think? I am sick of using the white vinegar to clean.....

I've tried it before, seemed to work. I mostly just use Dawn soap though, it's just easier.

I've never tried it to clean the cage but I have used lemon juice in the laundry. I started using the gse this winter but have no problem using vinegar as long as I can open the windows.

That's great. I use the same mix but with borax added for household. I have a wonderful e book I got for free that has home made receipts for cleaning just about everything. Will look now so I can post a link.

I use Dawn Soap and just make sure to thoroughly rinse

I use GSE or vinegar for general light wipe cleanings but when there is a big mess of dried on poop or its smeared down a row of cage bars and when I need to disinfect/sterilize perches toys or the cages I use my hand held steamer.

No gse or vinegar needed in the steamer just plain water and heat to easily remove any mess quickly.
