Are these okay to give? Should I peel off the skin? This is one fruit- Apple pears not apples and pears in case anyone gets mixed up lol
Thanks!
I thought apple pears were pears, in which case they are fine to give to parrots.

Both apples and pears are ok for the birds, so whatever family it falls in would be ok. Just remember that all apple seeds are toxic and must be removed. Coring apples and checking for seeds is essential to keep a happy parrot:).
Apple pears, aka. Asian pears, are pears. I've fed them to my conures, but they didn't particularly like them, lol.

I never knew what they were until I bought some yesterday, call me sheltered or in the dark about different fruits lol I thought maybe they were some weird hybrid of something else. I should have just googled.
Well, I had my first taste of them yesterday and I the human likes them! I read some people pair it with cheese, would probably be good with light chrisp sparkling wine and cheese one would assume, also good in a Thanksgiving stuffing I read or sautéed in butter and eaten that way, I might have to try that!
I gave Stitchy some today, he nibbled a little on it. The verdict is still out on whether he really Truly likes it though.
Wine ruins everything, it's just rotten grapes you know!:th_hehe:

Casper doesn't drink water, thinks his water bowl is a lavatory. He gets his liquid by squidging the moisture out of apple and pear and grape slices, leaving a pulp and the skins in the bottom of the bowl. He certainly gets enough liquid from it because his poo is very watery after he has been eating pear.
I have not seen or heard of apple-pears or asian pears but will look out for them and give them a try.
