What do you think makes people want a large bird or a small bird? Personally I could not physically handle a large bird due to arthritis in the hands and shoulders. I have always had small birds except for the TAG I had. Of course there are those that have both large and small birds.

For us it was two reasons.

My daughter fell in love with macaws.

I was afraid I would accidentally hurt a small bird. I picture myself sitting on a poor little guy, I have been known to sit on Rosie's tail here and there. I am much more comfortable with the larger guys. :)

Well I think it has to do with what you think you can provide for them and maybe, what you think you want in the species itself. Then again sometimes they adopt you and you have to do the best you can for them including at times making sacrifices and choices you might never of made prior to having them.

As Alice has explained so well, we were looking for some other mug to take on my mother's parrot when we were chosen by Casper who obviously realised what an easy pushover we were.

Let's see... Do I want small open wounds.. Or large bruises with torn flesh??? Baaahahahahahaha.. Just kidding.. But seriously.. That's one train of thought..

I think it's really what speaks to you.. Or possibly what chooses you.. Unfortunately price range can factor into it.. Room for the bird....cost of its food.. Ease of if you have to evacuate with the bird.. Lots of variables..

Amigo was our first. Without much forthought, we took him in, adapted (groan) and moved on to the Sassy goffins..then Chip the cockatiel,,all adopted, all loved and now..soon to move into conure mode. I'll let you know more at that point.

So far, for me at this time, my biggest bird is my easiest bird BUT in his beginnings..was my hardest.
