A friend had posted this recipe on FB, I saved it and made it today..omg! Sooo good! I don't eat a paleo diet but the ingredients caught my eye. I highly recommend you giving it a try :). By the way..Sassy LOVED it, too![Users must be registered and logged in to view attached photos or hyperlinks] 3gWHYeUhq1bTPt-B1W3IcoDovuB-5QAlhrvmojeoiTwPbU7dlpY4AXIsjlxyQUJCa_rc_k27tSbI1T-GfGVczRll_UBItRDs2f5FIGrSPCBvlpuEiFWujGdmABOfllYw&s=1

I had to check what a Paleo diet was as I had not heard of it. They had me on board until I got to the avoid alcohol line.
Catering is a bit of a nightmare for Margaret as I am gluten intolerant, our gran'daughter is vegetarian and Casper won't eat anything that is green.

Yeah, DAMN those specialized dieters! I eat everything, almost..no foie gras, please!

I've lived with a vegetarian husband for, going on 36 years. Our oldest is vegetarian and youngest is vegan. Our middle child and I enjoy turkey at Thanksgiving :)

I must admit to being slightly peeved that some restaurants offer vegetarian options - which is a lifestyle choice, but not gluten free alternatives. Fortunately the regulations have changed recently and staff are more aware of the problem, often the kitchen staff were on the ball but then the waiter would do something like putting wafers/biscuit on my ice-cream or croutons in my salad because he/she thought the kitchen had forgotten them. It even happened in a Michelin starred place.

Dianne, I'm an excellent vegetarian chef! I mostly eat vegetarian only because I hate cooking two separate meals. Once in a while I'll crave a good steak or roast chicken, then I cook that for myself and if my middle kid is around..we'll share :). Tim is a great cook! His pot of beans are to die for and his homemade salsa..yum!

Jean-Pierre, I've noticed that here, where I'm from, restaraunts and markets are starting to cater to gluten-free folks.

The recipe looks and sounds delightful. There are more and more things you can buy in the markets today that state "gluten free" as well as "no high fructose corn syrup" :D, now if they could just figure out why they chose to use some of the ingredients that they now know we don't want or even need in our food in the first place......:suspicion:

Agreed, Alice! The GMO info got shut down..what's up with that?! We as consumers should have a say in what we put into our bodies.

I know that feeling. xD My old roommate was lactose intolerant and she hated to cook, so we made an arrangement where she would do all the dishes if I did all the cooking (which worked out great because I HATE doing dishes.) I ended up eating like someone with a lactose intolerance just because it was easier (and cheaper) than making two meals. xP I had forgotten how good cheese tastes....

In the UK all food has to be labeled with ALL ingredients and now has to have in bold type allergy information. Restaurants are also supposed to list allergy information on their menus but as this is a new regulation there is a bit of a lag in take-up. Before this labelling I was ill for a fortnight because I ate a Snickers candy bar. I had read the ingredients but didn't realise that glucose syrup could contain gluten. When I told my doctor he said "Bad luck, Snickers are really nice".
So new regs make things much easier for me. It does get a bit surreal sometimes though, a bag of cashew nuts will have a label on it saying Allergy information: Contains nuts.
We don't have GM crops in the UK and anything that contains GM products is required by law to be labelled as such. I expect this will change soon as you lot are still alive.

We as consumers should have a say in what we put into our bodies. My guess is the corporations and their lobby groups is what's up with that :th_shakehead:. Through their political ads they made it sound like any mandate for food processing companies to list exact product ingredients would result in inaccurate information to the public and impose heavily upon the ability of farmers / food producers to profit and thus remain in business. Unfortunately, the majority of voters bought those contrived discouragement tactics and the result of course has been failure of a mandate for ingredients disclosure on food product labels :(

Mare,

The only way it seems we have a say is with our wallets. This is a link to the Non-GMO Project website that has great information and tools to help us all. [Users must be registered and logged in to view attached photos or hyperlinks]

I don't think vegan, vegetarian is a life style choice and I love that restaurants offer options I am a vegan. I also know most places that offer vegan stuff offer gluten free around here. Being vegan isn't a choice to me it is the only way to live without harming other things in my process. seems rather backwards to me that we harm and kill in order to live and flourish.

On the soup note my Fiancee made a wonderful sweet potato and cauliflower soup tonight it was great!

Mare i love hearing that most of your family are long time veggies!

Haha! I love you, Justin :). I'm to the point where everything I put in my mouth..I question. Do I really want to eat another being that was once alive? Nooo..no, I really don't. Although they taste delightful, my mind shuts it down.
