Congrats! What now? Do the parents feed them or do you? I know how to take care of newborn (abandoned) kittens but Holy Moly!, baby birds are beyond my scope!

The parents will feed them for about two weeks and by doing so the parents immunities are passed to the chicks. After that we remove them, hand feed and teach to perch, walk and fly.

A[Users must be registered and logged in to view attached photos or hyperlinks] so little and new! Do they make much sounds at this stage? How are Mom and Dad doing?

We left them with mom and dad for about three weeks and are now hand feeding them.Mom and dad have become less hormonal and were showing signs of exhaustion so it was time. They are in the nursery...quietest part of this nuthouse. They are eating well and gaining good amounts of weight. They are still a bit unsteady on their feet but play hard at playtime and nap hard after. Its always sad as we raise these to become someone else's pets.Keeping the attachment at a distance is often a struggle. We do screen the families that will eventually have them and our contract specifies their obligation to the bird. They must surrender back to us if they become unable to live up to what they've signed off on.We keep in touch with all the families that enjoy our birds and so far have never had a surrender or resale.

I've just caught up with this thread and I am amazed because I usually think all babies are not pretty but these little chaps are really quite cute.

Such beautiful colors. It is difficult to tell babies when all their feathers are grown in, or it could just be me as I have never raised a bird from a baby.

Those are pretty close to full adult feathers..when they're younger they're more green and dull colored..starburst was anyhow..and he's as much if a sun conure as you're gonna get LOL..he's loud and proud LOL..I can imagine it must be so peaceful there...LOL..nit something I noticed until we owned our sun..

I was offered a Sun Conure some years ago but knew then how high pitched their voice can be and declined. Now it's not all that quiet here b/c Lady can surely get plenty loud but her voice seems not to be such a high of a pitch as a sunny.
