I have heard of people both feeding coconut fruit and using the oil mixed with water as a spray to sooth plucked birds skin and help them to stop plucking.Anyone else heard of this or use coconut?

I give Rosie fresh coconut when I get it, usually in the summer. Not for any other reason than the fact that she likes it.
Coconut oil is awesome for humans. When I am watching my diet I use it in place of many oils/butter. Lots of health benefits. I also use the oil as a deep conditioner for my hair as well as my daughter. It works really well. So I can see people using it for dry/irritated skin for themselves or their parrots.
I use it on occasion in cooking. I did a quick search and found this video where she talks about the benefits of coconut oil for birds.

I would invest in the organaic coconut oil (solid) It is safe for birds, in moderation. If you have taught your greys to eat from a spoon they will enjoy a small bit of coconut oil and red palm oil. That way your can control how much they eat. If you put it in food you will not know. My grey loved to eat this from a spoon.
I have a friend on FB that shows her crazy, amazing, U2 in videos often and I wondered at the age of her bird because his feet were BEAUTIFUL! Amigo has old man dinosaur feet and he's really not that old in bird years, 15ish, her bird is only 3, but still..her secret was coconut oil rubbed into her boy's feet!! Amigo's getting a foot rub, maņana!
My organic coconut oil is usually solid but does get more liquid when the temperature gets warm outside or even in the house. Lady took a taste of it from my finger and liked it enough to clean it all off.

Someone that I know uses it as a facial moisturizer.
If you make any birdie bread or stuff like that you can add some in to the mixture. Also use that instead of a butter or oil to grease up your pans. I once tried cooking my shrimp in it but did not like the result on that.
You want extra virgin and cold pressed. I get my Nutiva brand at Whole Foods
