Hi,
I'm the proud mom of 3 kids, 2 fids, 2 dogs, and a few fish!
I love studying avian intelligence, and as a Speech Pathologist, their amazing communication!
I look forward to hearing about your flock!

Hi Rachael! Welcome to our community... thanks for joining us. All of your k/fids sound wonderful. I hope to hear more about them and maybe see a few snaps of the feathered ones :D

I think I can safely tell you that you're our first member who's authored a murder mystery in which a parrot is a central character. May I ask where your inspiration for the story came from? I've not read your book (yet), but I googled it briefly and it sounds intriguing :smilet-digitalpoint

Catch you soon :)

Welcome to our forum. I have read your book and found much joy in doing so. Hope you are planning for more with your bird in the story. When you get a chance we love photos here. I am sure birds are among the most intelligent of the animal world.

Hi!
Isaac is about 5, and I adopted him a couple of years ago. As many of you know, when you rehome a bird, they come with a whole vocabulary from their old homes. Isaac made a perfect phone ring, door squeaks, banging, whistling tunes, and lots of words. He would ask in a high pitched voice, "wanna go potty?" as though calling dogs, and then bark like a little dog. We only had bigger dogs. He constantly surprised us and cracked us up when listening to him. My story was based off of his conversations (although he came from a very good home!)
My next book is going to feature an Umbrella 'too!

I will have to figure out how to post pictures!!
:)

Okay, so I'm not great at posting pictures!! The first two are shots my daughter took, and the third is the original cover of my book. That's Isaac! We had to use another one for the print copy, but everyone likes to see the real photo!!

I'm def going to have to check out your book! There are so many things I've learned from being a parrot guardian, they are the most amazing creature I've ever met!

I think your pic postings are just fine. What a cute guy he is. So how far into the new book have you gotten as of now? I would guess it comes natural to you, must be fun to prepare adventures for your books.

Hey Rachael... I too think your pics are very nice (being perpendicular isn't a requirement :)). And I love your original cover photo! Issac is a handsome grey.

The pics have a parrot's eye view because they always seem to put their head to the side when focusing.

Thanks for reading!! I think I have decided to do a series of books with different birds...but all mysteries. My next one is The Cockatoo Called!!
I want to do one with a caique, cockatiel, macaw, and keep going!

Did you get the book on Amazon?

I'm about a third of the way with the cockatoo book, but it's really going fast! I've gotten great ideas from my bird people!!
It is fun to take the things that I love, reading, writing, and animals, and put them together!
