Noah has come back to me, he went to his new home two weeks ago with a weight of 340 grams, and very health . now the person he went to has had 2 eckies die on her. Well I get a call yesterday saying his weight is down to 246 grams, which is the weight of a 25 day old chick . I have no idea what she has done she says he gets all the food required,I know she brought all the food as I sent her to my markets and to the stall where I buy everything. even put the shop keeper on phone so I could let her know what to give her. well its off to vets soon to find out what is wrong . how can a healthy bird who is eating lose a 100 grams in two weeks. I'm scared to give back once I get him back where he should be. Sorry for the long vent.

That is a huge weight loss. Good for him to be back with you. Praying for healing.

I hope he's going to be ok, Steve. Doesn't sound right, the fact that two of these birds have died with this person. I'm glad Noah is back with you.

I don't know that the bird should go back to her, unless she can prove the two deaths were not due to her care I'd fight for that life that is so cherish-able. No reason to let it be gone for someone else's happiness. Hope he turns around a 180!

He has a form of chlamydia now being treated, I should have him back within 3 weeks, he got it from contaminated water, as for the other two eckies she had it was not her fault they died it was the breeder ,who is just in it for the money, over breeding and no condition on the female , vet told her they were not viable birds to start. But it took the 2nd bird to die before she realized it was the breeder and the vets report. The breeder no longer has birds as they were confiscated by RSPCA. So once I get him back to health he will go back. She is bringing me her conour so I can treat him as well , while she goes on holidays.

He has a form of chlamydia now being treated, I should have him back within 3 weeksIt sounds like psitticosis (chlamydia psittaci). That can easily spread to other flock members... and in some cases to humans. It's often deadly for birds. I'm assuming the other two eckies had similar symptoms before they died?
