WOW, 2015.....:year2: anyone already have plans for how your bringing in the new year?

Christmas will soon be here and before we know it so will New Year's day.

I can remember when I thought 2000 was a long way off and look where we are now.....seems life is moving faster every year!

You are SO right, Alice! Life does move along without us even noticing, sometimes :). I remember in the summer of 1999, my neighbor calls and asks if we are collecting beans, rice, water, batteries, etc..etc.. For the end of the world!?! A new millennium, Y2K! We're we prepared?...umm..no :).

It's crazy how quickly time goes by!!!

We usually have a small gathering here on New Year's Eve. I am not really feeling in the holiday spirit this year, so I was going to skip it.

However, 3 different friends asked if we are having it, so I guess we are. :) I will have to get myself into the holiday spirit.

For New Year's, we usually set up my daughter's speaker with a disco ball and the kids have a dance party in the basement. The basement is their play/video game/theater room so it is a free for all down there. :) They usually have a blast. The most important thing for me is that the kids look back and have awesome memories from our gatherings.

We usually light fireworks at midnight, figuring it is super exciting for the kids. We had a debacle on July 4th with a faulty firework shooting sideways instead of up. It was a mess, thank goodness no one was really hurt. But now my husband won't light them. (Can't say I blame him) So I guess we will see if any of the other guys want to do it.

Hope everyone else has a great time ringing in the New Year!

I've also, had a hard time getting into the spirit this year, Kendra. For me, I think, I don't have ALL my kids with us on that day, No grandkids, hoping that my neice and her love come to join us. Tim says today, "We need Ammo here!" Amaryllis, is our great-niece :). She's now a six year old Dynamo!

New Years is my oldest sisters bday, but she lives an 8 hour drive away so a card and maybe a delivery to her door would be nice this year. She is going to be almost 70 this year!

Holiday season is quiet here except for Christmas day. We feast and play games for the young and old. I am not the oldest yet. Played a game called dictionaries and laughter so hard we were all sore. It is a fun game and I paid the price by getting home at 1 AM.

The festive season has lost its thrill for us.We lost our oldest son a few years back at 25 years old.The holidays seem to just be quiet and a little sad now.New Years eve is usually an early night to sleep for me and whatever interesting is on tv for my wife.My girls are getting old enough to hang out with friends and our youngest son stays home.Yikes....it just doesn't sound like we're much fun at all.
Cheers to you all though. All the best in the new year

Oh Dave,

I'm truly sorry about the loss of your son.
Festive season or not, I just don't feel the way I use to before about things. I guess as we get older things come to light, they don't mean what they once did. If someone were to ask me what I like to do to have fun, the simple answer is just to spend time with family and friends, making memories no matter what we are doing or the time of the year.

No special activities planned here. Just grateful to be alive and see a new year and another day. Will spend New Years eve and day much like every other day just being grateful to be alive and in His presence. God bless you all and may your New Year be filled with all His blessings.

No huge plans for me except being in bed by 9:30. I have to be up at 4 am to go to work new years day. :(
I did have a nice Christmas Eve with my nieces and their boyfriends. Plenty of food, wine, laughter and music.
