How is everyone doing? Take care of your computer there are many hackers busy during the holidays. I am seeing Chipper & Daisy feed each other now. That is a first in the 2 years they have been together. No preening though. Wonder what is going on. Anyone making Christmas Cookies? I will be with family for that special day. We even get a holiday menu from the host (my niece)

All is well here Dianne, thanks. And thanks for the reminder about the computer hackers.

How cute that Daisy and Chipper are feeding each other, it surely must bring a smile to your heart to see them getting along so nicely.
Haven't thought about baking for the holiday yet, it seems to be a last minute thing for me. But I remember when my girls were young we would have such fun making so many different kinds. There was one I liked the most called a candy cane cookie with real crushed candy cane in the recipe :).
Last year I made some rum balls and took them to work to share with a few selective friends.

Chipper and Daisy sound quite happy with each other :). Dianne, thanks for reminder on holiday cookies! I need to start thinking in that direction. I have a brother and his family, that live in Bogata, Columbia, and his wife is not a baker so I like to send cookies every year..I better get busy!

Wow! A holiday menu! Let us know what you order! :)

Dianne: Chipper and Daisy feeding one another sounds like a very positive sign to me :)

Alice: Just curious... how did you crush up the candy canes?

This is a nice thread :)

Do you have a favorite cookie at holiday times? I do not bake them any more because I get so many from my family.

My favorite is from Betty Cricker cookbook and they are called "Russian Tea Cakes". They are small round , as in ball shaped, cookies rolled in powder sugar that EVERYONE loves! My kids have always called them snowball cookies :). Thumbprint is another favorite! Oh, my..there are so MANY, I could go on all day!

I've never had a rum ball cookie, I'll have to check this out!

To crush the candy canes, we would put them in two or three zip lock bags, cover the bag with a tea towel and smack them with a rolling pin.
A good way to vent any aggressions too :).

My neighbors would call the police and report a candy smasher.

I remember those Russian tea cakes. Do they have nuts inside?

Kind of a crazy thread!

I lowered my auto insurance today by $60. Per month. Did away with some coverage like PIP because it's pretty much like Medicare. How's that for a change of subject? I am thinking Tony is going to say this all belongs in the blog.

Do you put up Christmas decorations? I usually do not because of lack of storage. However my sister gave me some old decorations that my Mom made or used. I put them up in the small area outside and on my apartment door (hallway) along with a big dish of candy. I would love to see some photos of members decorations/decorated trees.

It is so sweet that you put out candy, Dianne!!

Jef was away all week, so I decorated on my own. I didn't do as much as I normally do...without Dad the kids didn't have much interest and neither did I. ;) Fortunately, he did the outside before he left.

Ha Ha Kendra Im remembering your post last year trying to do your tree [remembering were not that tall:). Im going to make peppermint bark this weekend. I make enough to go to work and give my kids friends too. Sometimes I make butterscotch bark .

Yum! I love peppermint bark. I just bought a whole bunch of Dove bags. I have to hide them, my son will devour them if I don't. He actually found a bag, ate the entire thing and left the empty bag for me. I love chocolate, so I was furious, especially since I forbade the kids to eat it. I took his electronics away for the day. I may have a bit of a candy problem... Lol

I have never had butterscotch bark, is it as addicting?

I think so Kendra , I make it with butterscotch chips ,crushed candies and peanuts.

Your decorations are awesome Kendra. Looks a little Victorian to me.

Any samples of the candy bark?

Mm. Peppermint bark. We usually buy some from Crate & Barrel, but this year I'm making all my own sweets so I skipped on that. I still got C&B's mini mighty marshmallows and hot cocoa shavings for stocking stuffers (shh, don't tell mom!). But this year, I found this amazing fudge recipe, and I'm a little low on cash and time to ship things out to people, so I'm going to be making a giant batch of regular fudge and peanut butter-chocolate fudge and send it out to everyone I know for their Christmas gifts. I may or may not include my famous snickerdoodles (and by "my famous" I mean my Martha Stewart recipe snickerdoodles). I think I'm going to pass on doing my usual Christmas time chocolate-orange-espresso thins. Another Martha Stewart recipe, I have one of her old Christmas cookie guides that has something like a hundred different cookie recipes in them, and usually I choose two or three to bake and bring into work ... I'm just not feeling it right now since I've been sick. And don't forget her chocolate crackle cookies. Okay, now I'm hungry for cookies...good thing I made some peanut butter cookies for me and mom last night...

I'm guessing this is very off topic but how in the world do you get rid of the PP pop-up? Sometimes I tap the side of my iPad screen accidentally and the PP Facebook pop-up comes up?

That happens to me if I get too close to the side of my screen with the cursor. I just made the page smaller so I wouldn't have any reason to go over to the side and put my glasses on lol.
