Oooh Dianne,

This is great information! I think it is a wonderful idea to try some of the brands through samples rather than put the money out only to find your baby doesn't care for them.

:thanks4sharingthumband thinking of the rest of us~~:th_hug8:

Indeed a great idea, Dianne! I decided to go through your list and call each of the phone numbers you've so kindly provided. I have not however sent any emails or web form contacts (yet). I asked each call taker whether their company were willing to provide free samples of parrot diet products. Below are the responses I received:

LaFeber said they no longer provide free samples but will send a sample kit for $4.95.

Harrison's WILL send free samples and is happy to do so!

Pretty Bird said they discontinued offering free samples quite some time ago.

Scenic Bird Food said they don't provide free samples.

8in1 has inconclusive status. Upon my connection, I was placed on hold indefinitely (I tried to call twice).

Hartz stated that they don't offer free samples but that on their website it's possible to sign up for some of their promotions.

FM Brown said they don't offer free samples.

As you can see, Harrison's is the only company from the list so far who is willing and eager to send free sample bird food products to those who call in. However, LaFeber's $4.95 for a sample kit does seem reasonably affordable. The small fee is likely intended to cover shipping costs.

Well I did not run a test by calling them I am glad you did. Perhaps should just delete the thread as old news.

Well I did not run a test by calling them I am glad you did. Perhaps should just delete the thread as old news. No, I think it's a great thread. It will apprise folks about which companies are willing to send free samples, and which ones will send samples for a small fee. It also provides somewhat of an overview on which companies aren't interested in providing samples at all. It's your thread, Dianne, so you can do as you like... but my vote is to leave it up. I (for one) see it as useful information and I appreciate that you posted it :)

Dianne, thank you so much!! I did the opposite of Tony and sent out a bunch of emails while waiting fo the kids to finish their activities.

Sue at FM Brown said she will send Rosie a sample of Tropical Carnival Natural Macaw Food. She asked that I send her a pic of Rosie with the food so she could post it on their facebook page.

Erin from Caitec responded saying she would send out a sample of their oven fresh bites.

That is all I heard back from so far. I didn't send out emails to the entire list though.

Thank you again Dianne!!

Perhaps others could add to the list if you know of companies that will do this for us.

Received my samples from Caitec today and they

2423 are very generous. Will have to crush them for small birdies like mine.

Thanks for the list, Dianne!

I got samples from Caitec and Roudybush. Caitec sent a wonderful sample! And Roudybush sent me two very nice sized bags of their food!
