Best way to teach free flight

So I have a 2 year old Scarlet Macaw and I want to teach him free flight. I don't want him flying free outside just indoors in a secure room! The reason for this is I take him to many places I teach people about him and they ask to see him fly so I would love to be able to set him on a perch, walk to the other side of the room and call him to me.

Does anyone have ideas or advice on the best way to teach him to do this?

Here's how it goes in our house:
We are on one side of the room repeatedly saying "come on then"
Casper is on top of his cage repeatedly saying "come on then"
Eventually we give up and go and fetch him.
