Life can never be dull at your house, he just has so much to give.Hey Renee' ... I re-read my response to your post and realized that it didn't come out right. I have no idea why I worded it the way I did, and I apologize (early morning and not fully awake I guess). What I meant to say was: I adore Salsa and I love his goofy antics. I'm actually quite addicted to his personality :). But do you think that I post too many clips of him doing his routines? I just worry that it might seem a bit boring after a while.

I will tell you that Salsa definitely keeps all of us here from feeling bored. But no matter how many vids I post of him, it's been very difficult to capture the extent of his personality.

I don't think that they are boring. I love Salsa's singing, it cracks me up. Love those green wing macaws.

Salsa, or any of your macaws, could NEVER be boring! :)

I'm curious, though, are most birds up past sundown? I know mine are tucked in when the sun goes down. Not sure if they would prefer it that way, that's just the way it is. Having cockatoo's, they DEFINITELY let me know when that sun is DOWN!

Salsa, or any of your macaws, could NEVER be boring! :)Thanks. Sals is by far the silliest of my four, so I've made hundreds of short clips trying to capture that silliness. Each time I shoot video of him, though, he tones way down. There are certain things he absolutely refuses to say or do on camera. Some of the clips I've posted of him are a bit repetitive and I'd rather not saturate everyone with him.

I try to make them hit the rack before 9 on most evenings. Don't worry, they're fine :)

No worries here, Tony, just curious. When a bird (Amigo) first came into my life, I had no clue as to when a bird was ready to shut down for the night. After about a month of him screaming past nightfall, I got the picture!

Tony, I did not see what you had posted.

I can say that I don't get tired of the clips but rather enjoy them. How can anyone tire of seeing a little one just being so full of life and having fun. He puts a smile on my face when I watch him.

As for bed time, Jody was my first little one and at that time I had a room with two 9 ft cutting tables because I used to do a lot of sewing. Jody's condo was in that room and there were many a night she was up late as I seemed to do most and best sewing it seemed after about 9-10 at night. Jody would grind her beak basically telling me it was bed time but she also learned at an early age that is just what goes on here.

Over the years one of the tables went back to my sister and when Kalea came here, the 2nd table had to be moved out of that room. Kalea will start to call you if I am upstairs working an the light is on. She wants to be in bed around 8:30 so the timer is set for that time but if the fan light was put on which is not on that timer and I forget to turn the light off, she will give me a honk or two and then it dawns on my that I did not put them to sleep.

Donovan is in a bed room next to the room I work from and his light goes off at 9. He wants his night-night cuddle before the light goes off otherwise he will scream and I usually am up till maybe midnight working. He hears me and all but as long as the light is out, he is ok with things. I think a lot of that is he used to live in a house that was full of people. His condo was in a lower level where there were 4 bedrooms and more of a family room down there. The size of that room was huge, probably at least 30x40 if not larger. I have a feeling why Donovan will whisper real softly 'Hi' might be because of people coming in and out of the room after lights out and they would just whisper to him to let him and the other 2 birds know they were walking through.

So, I believe a lot of it depends on the environment and what an individual bird wants.

I think one of the reasons I become a bit concerned about overkill on the Salsa vids is because for the past few months there have been less overall photo and video postings from members to blend around the ones I post. Naturally that makes mine seem more concentrated.

So, I believe a lot of it depends on the environment and what an individual bird wants.I agree with you. And by the way, I'm unsure whether I've mentioned this to you before... I have posted about it somewhere on here, though. Zaf happens to be a huge whisperer of the word "hi" as well. He usually does it when the lights are low or off. He'll get very close to my face, look me right in the eye, tilt and plant his head to the side (as Hys often do), and whisper the clearest "hi" you've ever heard. He does this about 3 or 4 times in a row... once after each tilt and plant of his head. And with each of those head plants he targets his gaze directly into my eyes. So he makes it very clear that he's whispering "hi" to me personally. I whisper "hi" back to him of course. And his "hi" voice is always a perfect human whisper. It's quite an endearing ritual :)

Renee, I totally understand :). Birds are social animals and if you're awake, in the same room, they may well be, also. I love the little whisper voice. Sassy does this when I cover her at night, she'll whisper night-night Sassy,,night-night bird :heart:

The videos are great! I don't have a good video camera and am working toward getting better lighting in the room we are in, so please don't stop the videos. It's great to see Salsa videos and I just discovered the videos with your other babies too! I like seeing them interact. The vids are short and sweet, not boring in the least.

Tony please don't ever stop putting the videos on!! Salsa never fails to put a smile on my face. Mina has a crazy schedule due to my second shift. Daddy puts her to bed at 9:00 9:30. Usually she is asking to "go night night" about 8:30. I don't get up till 11:30 since my eyes don't know how to shut before 4 am anymore [emoji37]. She doesn't seem to mind. It just shows every bird and situation is different. But Mare I did take your advice. I now put Mina in her cage at 6:00 wheel her into our room. She plays in there with us and eats like a little piggy. That was a great idea. Just instead of putting her to bed we cage her.
