Poet is a character. Everything that I have she wants to see it or play with it. Everything that I eat, she wants to try. It's gotten to the point that if I'm eating something that she can't have, I have to hide to eat it. She's like a little kid. I see this as a good thing because it's been really easy to get her to try new things to eat and she's not afraid of different stuff to play with. The one thing she's not crazy about is the harness. I keep working on that though.

That's so cool! The beauty of a young mind, huh? The harness is a challenge. Fortunately, you have a youngster to work with :)

Yes Mare the harness is a challenge. Lilliputs gives me a hard time about it too. I found a blog written by a man. In Japan? I think. He made a home made harness that he said was excepted pretty well by his grey. He gave instructions on how to make it so I am going to try it.

It's easy to tell that you and Poet have a great relationship already, Lori :D. Just imagine how amazingly well that relationship will flourish through the years! I can't blame her for not having much enthusiasm for the harness... I wouldn't be very crazy about wearing one either ;)

I know exactly the person you speak of, Lori, his name evades me at the moment. He was so supportive of me, in time of need, when I was getting so much #### thrown at me for free flying Amigo (a different forum). His harness looks amazing and fairly easy to make. At the time I was thinking about one, it would have been for our Sassy girl. She has proven to be,,how should I say...uncooperative?

I can see where that harness would be a lot less invasive to the bird. Maybe Sassy girl would accept that one.
I think Amigo has an amazing life, I wouldn't change anything that you are doing.

I am so happy that Poet is fitting in so well!! What a sweetie!!

Keep working on the harness! Rosie was ok with the harness when she was a baby but we took the winter off since it was so cold. When I tried it again in the spring she went haywire and it has been a no go ever since. She actually shakes when I take it out and tries to get as far from the horrible things as she can. Biggest mistake I made was taking that break. I guess hindsight is twenty twenty. Sigh. Would you mind sharing the blog with the harness info? Maybe it would be useful with my red diva. :)

Thanks, Lori :). Amigo does have an amazing life. Fortunately, we live in an area where we can allow him to be this way. I've been tempted to try this with Sassy but she's kind of a dingbat :(. I wouldn't trust her instincts. Let me know if this home-made harness works for you and Poet.

Ok, I just did a bit of research, Shanlung is this guy's name. Here is one of his posts.

Thanks Mare, that is the guy. Here is the link to how to make the harness for Kendra. I will have to check his blog again to see what the materials were that he used. I think it was some kind of string that you can get at a marine store, soft but not easy to chew through.

I hoping to at least get her ok with it and hopefully when she realizes what freedom she can have with it on she will actually look forward to it.
