I notice that this PSA is being aired many times each day. I think it's great!

That is amazing! Although through rescue we get a lot of families saying we want a bird like rio..and I just kinda chuckle and help them in a better direction;).

I find it interesting that the cartoon characters Blu and Jewel in the Rio movies are supposed to be Spix's Macaws... yet the PSA analogizes them to Hyacinths. While the characters lack the yellow mandible and eye-ring skin, apparently WWF thinks they better resemble Hyacinths :indecisiveness:. And I'm sure a big part of it is the fact that Spix's are now virtually extinct in the wild, so footage of them in the setting of their natural environment would probably be difficult to acquire.

Yes and most wild spix footage is during the night from what I have seen.

The movie has the attention of the audience out there and with the Spix not being in the wild, at least the movie can be still used to draw attention to the endangered habitats and hopefully give it a little help.
I saw the original Rio and really loved it. Saw Rio2 and was somewhat disappointed in it but still want to get the family of 5 stuffed animals yet.

And what better to use as an example than another endangered (but still observable) blue Macaw: the Hyacinth :D

That was very nice of her to do, I had to buy my own copy.

I still haven't seen any of the movies but have heard good things, I need to put it on my list! I don't know what a PSA is, Tony, I googled it and mostly I found stuff relating to prostate screening :). The video you posted felt good, I'm so happy to see the awareness out there and hopefully it spreads!
