So from what I've gathered, Nandays can often have prickly dispositions. Rosie was a breeder bird for the first half of her life, now she's been doted upon by my mother for...oh... five years? She's still never been particularly prone to affection. But tonight she did something completely unimaginable.

Tonight .... she sat there for ten minutes asking mom to keep petting her, like I do with Orsino.

It was amazing. I had a brief moment of wondering if she was dying or something, and then she started shrieking again before asking for more head scratches!

Does it worry anyone else when they get suspiciously sweet? Or is it just my birds that tend only to do it after they've done something to seriously get in trouble?

Hopefully she has decided it would be nice to receive some real hands-on affection from you, and that her own behaviors are directly related to how much of it will come her way. It may turn out to be a regular thing... or it could just end up being a mode she slips into occasionally. Time will tell.

Sure would be nice if Rosie was settling in and coming around to some affection. My Sassy Goffin's likes it but only when SHE wants it. Sassy is always in trouble, somewhere, but I think when they get in the mood, they can be receptive to some loving.
