Maddy

It has been four years, four amazing and wonderful years, since my life totally changed in the most amazing way possible. Four years since I brought home one of the most amazing creatures ever. Four years since I became a bird owner.
I remember that day like it was yesterday.....Friday, July 30th 2010, around 8:45pm. My dad and I walked into PetSmart, and I had such a hard time picking out a bird. I really liked a pretty white one, but she looked puffy and sick. I finally decided on one of the blue zebra striped budgies, and we had the worker come over and get her for us. We got food and millet, and then we paid and left. When we got home, my mom took the budgie out of the box, and I pet her head for the first time. Then we put her in the cage and the great name debate took place. We decided on Weasley. I then kicked everybody out of my room and just sat and talked to my sweet little bird. I told her how excited I was to be her new mommy, how pretty she was, that I loved her. I sang Disney songs to her until it was time to cover her. I asked my mom for a blanket to cover her with, and she gave me the ugliest polka dotted blanket (that I still use to cover my budgies). Then my mom said we should sing her a bedtime song, so we did. We sang the "Goodbye" song from Bear in the Big Blue House, except we changed the lyrics a little bit so that it said goodnight instead of goodbye. The I covered her, and let her sleep.
That was my first night as a bird owner. It was simple, but it was wonderful.
Weasley, my first bird, is currently flying through the clouds and over the rainbow, but still continues to provide inspiration and comfort for me. If I'm upset or angry, all I've got to do is think of her. As a friend once told me, Weasley is my happy thought.
There are so many things that I wouldn't have done or discovered about myself without birds. I probably wouldn't be an artist if it weren't for birds, because my inspiration to paint came from a website I joined because of my birds. I've met so many wonderful people because of birds. Some of them I've met in person, and some I've only talked to online. But I love them all.
I've met so many beautiful birds since I've become a bird owner. I've also owned nine gorgeous birds of my own. All nine of those birds have had a impact on me and my life.
I've helped birds and people since I've became a bird owner, and I hope that I am able to help many more in the following years.
In closing, I would like to thank Weasley, and all of my other birds, for everything they've ever done for me. For everything they've taught me. And most important, for all the love they've helped me experience.
I love my flock. :th_heart:
