Alright, so I have not used insecticide in quite a while for obvious reasons. Now my house is being over run by spiders. Not big ones, I don't mind the big ones. I just capture those and put them back outside (and I don't see them often). It's those little tiny ones that are fairly harmless but they bite and make you itch. Every day off I am vacuuming spiders up and more just come and take their place. It's driving me nuts and I have to figure out a way to keep them out without poisoning my birds. My house is 102 years old and not exactly sealed air tight and won't ever be unless I want to spend thousands. So, for the moment that won't be happening.
That being said, does anyone have any suggestions on how to keep spiders out without making my birds sick? If you do, I would be grateful to hear about them and ecstatic if it worked.

Hmm..that's a tough question. The main spiders we get are the daddy long-legs and I also vacuum them up. I heard somewhere that if you are vacuuming spiders, you need to plug the hose before you put it away because they will crawl out! If I learn anything new, Lori, I'll let you know!

The only thing natural thing that I have come up with is essential oils. I think that I am going to remove the birds and my computer from this room and just get rid of them (the spiders that is). This is the room that they are really bad for some reason and it's the room that we all hang out in. It's really weird, like an invasion or something. I've lived here for twelve yrs. and have not ever had this problem. Maybe they are coming in because of all of the rain we have been getting for a while now. This room just got a full cleaning when my niece moved out. Well, I guess we will just move out for a while as well. I might as well give everything a fresh coat of paint while I'm at it.

We have been getting a lot more spiders in the house than usual here too. I just mentioned it to Jef the other day.

I don't have a solution, other than yelling for Jef to come get them to put them outside. :) Spiders creep me out. I am curious if anyone else has a good solution though.
