I miss my girl so much in the evening when I'm at work. I compensate by shoving pictures of her down everyone throat at work lol.

Aww..that would be hard, especially knowing baby girl is home alone. Have you ever thought about bringing in another bird to keep her company? Our cockatiel, Chip, has been great company for Sassy, even though Sassy would eat him if she could, he gives her something to think about while she's locked in her cage.

The poor girl... she's indeed a very good bird as far as dealing with your schedule. Those are cute photos of her :)

Working so much is really hard on the flock.. Jess and I have been really putting in the hours.. And our fids dont understand why.

We spend as much time with them as we can, but it's not like they understand why we trade our youth and health for money.. Only to try to trade money for health and youth later on..

But our fids get to stay out of their cages because of our living situation.. So im thankful for that.. And thankful our son does a great job watching and caring for his feathered sibs lol

It all does seem so ridiculous

The system has us "by the balls", so to speak.. I've been fortunate enough be able to work only part time and on my own schedule. I know this isn't the norm but it would be nice if it could be.

My husband is home with her most evenings. That's why I chose to work 3-11 so she wouldn't sit alone all day. It just is hard that I was home with her for so long and now with everything going up except what we seem to earn we both need to work. I did consider getting another bird to keep her company. I'm not ready to add to my flock. That little stinker keeps me very busy lol. Currently she is in the danger zone of weight loss per her AV so I'm frantically trying to get her to eat. Friday I am making chop so we will see how that goes.

Kim, what do you normally feed her?

I feed her Harrison's pellets that are always available in her cage and My Safe Bird Store Mix. For her morning snack. She sifts through that.

I remember, a while back Kim, that you were having issues with Mina's weight. Is she getting enough variety with fresh foods? Let me tell you what Sassy Goffin's eats. In the month of.. let's say February, she will eat what ever fruits and veggies I give her, the next month she won't touch them :(. Then I have to switch her diet up and try different things, chopped up, but she will always eat something from her choice. Amigo is my picky eater but I know that he will ALWAYS eat corn, either on the cob or off, walnuts, he loves the mini-peppers, oranges, watermelon, rice.

I guess what I'm getting at is, are you feeding Mina other than feed from the pet store to see if you can get her weight up? Oops, you are making her chop! Just re-read :)

My spoiled creeps won't eat chop. They like their food separate from the other, in the same bowl and touching is ok..just not mixed up.

There is certain things that Lilliput will eat if I hand it to her but she won't eat it out of the bowl.

Well just wanted to get back with everyone ant let you know Mina now weighs a whopping 510 grams!! Not really sure how I did it. I did a lot with foraging with a really good quality seed mix. Tried tried and tried again to get the little stinker to eat just one veggie NOPE. Fruit yes several. Vet said not to overload that can cause yeast to grow. So this week I am going to try spaghetti squash. She loves noodles so we will see. I think she is a texture girl now that I watch her. Talk about a quirky fid. so we still have our Harrison's , the MSBS snack mix and a seed mix with trying other foods. Success yeeehaaa!

As a retired RN I understand where you are. On that shift you have no time for social life at all. I feel for you and pray you can get on a day shift sometimes.

Thanks Dianne. Maybe I should stay on second shift and not upset the apple cart [emoji1]. She seems to be doing so well. Well I was kind of hogging her all to myself. I guess she likes being out and about more. Thanks everyone.
