I had an amazing day today. I cleaned my bird room and spent some very needed time with all the birds. I made a break through with one of the rescues cockatoos who has many issues. As well my personal guys where playing together which was amazing to see. It was three of my macaws, my disabled catalina and the "siblings" toby and taylor the green wing and blue and gold. Although i don't recommend anyone without years of knowledge to let there birds interact. It truly does take knowing your birds 99% and knowing what each action means. Thought I would share part of my amazing day! I would love to do a daily blog about my days with the rescue and all my crazy flock. This is if we can attract enough attention and posts to make it worth everyones time.
I have no problem sharing my knowledge and enjoyment as long as everyone would feel comfortable joining in. We know the dire situation of this forum and if a daily blog from someone with a rescue/ a decent sized flock would bring some attention let me know! Have a nice night everyone and give input and share your stories!
much love,
Justin

Everyday is great with the birds, but other aspects can be not so amazing. Thanks for the input as long as we get others we will "fly" with this idea;).
Holy Moly! I would love to read your blog! Me of One! :th_biggrin: Do you own the rescue, Justin? How big is it and how many/species of birds do you have? I would love to see photos and learn more!
Count me in,,I have many stories!!

yes mare, I own the rescue we do it as a family. It is just starting we just opened a facebook page and we are working on a website. Pretty much any species we will take in. I own mostly macaws with the other mixed in i got pretty much everything >.<. The rescue has 2 greys/ a conure/ 3 parakeets/ 2 amazons/ a cockatoo and macaw that is pending adoption. and some on a waiting list till the rescue is done i may be able to find pictures to post of the building and its progress. Once we are open we will have much much more. I will look to start a daily blog soon if support continues for these forums!
Here is the front door which doesn't really show how big our building will be but it is nicely landscaped for buisness:). I may have rescue bird pics but those will be for the blog;) and if you are lucky i will post some of my guys!

Thank- you plax! I know you have always been a huge support:). This guy is one of the best guys I know. He is willing to do anything to help someone out and help birds/ bird owners.
Here is ruggie the rescue cockatoo. We are unsure of his status of going into a home. He has some major issues being addressed by none other then me lol:). He is an amazing guy and who i had a break through with today!

I feel I've been a rescue, in some ways. I would love to take in more birds but how do you go about finding them new, good homes?
That's very cool about your breakthrough with Ruggie today, Justin :). He sounds and looks like an amazing bird who deserves everyone's support! Please keep us updated on him.

I think this is a grand idea. I would love to read about the trials, tribulations and triumphs of your rescue.

@mare, I have people visit. I work with them and the bird once im satisfied they can handle the bird in every way. I do a home visit/ paper work. Then they pay the adoption fee and take the chosen bird home. It s hard at times to find good homes for bigger birds, but it happens eventually. And certain birds such as greys/ mini macaws/conures usually get adopted much quicker as cockatoos/ macaws take longer.
@plax, will do!

The outside looks beautiful. What is the Facebook page? I will like it and maybe it will help get the word out. Every little bit helps. ;)

Thanks everyone for the amazing support! And kendra that would be so awesome it needs more likes:).
Although i'm not starting the blog today I will give an update. We spent a major part of the day staining and working on the rescue. As well the people looking to adopt baby the blue and gold we have for adoption came by to help and play with baby. It was an excellent day again and made a lot of progress towards many many things! Tomorrow I work and play with birds so maybe tomorrow in the spare time at night I will start a blog, if that doesn't happen more then likely just update this post again. I will get to it asap!
