I came across a horribly upsetting story on FB yesterday.
A man in Canada had his African Grey stolen from his porch. He set up a FB event to have people help find his bird, Ozzi. The bird was discovered tortured and killed outside. It looks like some teenage boys were the culprits and one has been arrested and released to his parents. Such a sad and disturbing story. And I guess a lesson in being vigilant with our loved ones. :(
The news has covered it a bit. Here is a link to a story on it:

Oh, nooo..I can't read this,,you've said enough to last through a few bad dreams :(. It hurts me to know that people can be so cruel,,so sad
This tragedy is so unthinkably horrific :'(. I can't begin to imagine the massive terror and agony that poor Ozzi obviously experienced at the hand of the distorted trash (the person or people) who killed her :(. I have long held absolute hatred in my heart for such individuals! An unimaginably evil, depraved element seems to lurk within the minds of certain human beings... This incident is incredibly disturbing to hear about, as are others like it :'(

This has made my heart hurt for the Ozzi and the family. I myself found a lost and hopeless parrot (African Grey) and did not even think about raising my voice at the parrot such a sad story. Parrots are living creatures just like humans. Treat them as little toddlers.
Sadly, Adeel, there are folks that abuse children, also..

I would never leave my parrot unattended outside of the house.

Whenever I hear of anyone abusing animals or children, my blood boils. Simply because they are helpless and innocent. It is just despicable.
My other thought is that young people who torture/kill small animals is scary for another reason. So often sociopaths start out doing this type of thing.
I hope Ozzi's family is able to find some peace.

Oh no, how sad. What is in people to drive them to do these things?
Oh no, how sad. What is in people to drive them to do these things?I think none of us can know this, Lori. It's unfathomable to me how someone could be so despicably cruel. Ozzi was a wonderfully sweet bird and there was such tremendous love between her and her dad, Asem. That love is vividly apparent on a video clip I watched of them interacting together. It just made me cry :(. People like the individual who committed this ghastly cruel act should never have been born and should have no rights at all (as far as I'm concerned). That dearly loved, beautiful little bird was such an innocent and special soul :(

People like this disgust me. I have friends in that area of the world who immediately linked that story to me when they first heard it a few months ago, and to this day it still makes me queasy. If think that's no less than killing a human, as far as I'm concerned they deserve the death penalty or life in prison at the very least.
