It's raining here in Central Cali and I must say, well needed! I cut Amigo loose, this morn, and there was a steady, light rain at that time. The outside temp is 53F degrees and he is loving every minute of it. He doesn't differentiate the rain from a hose being sprayed upon him! He rolls around in the wet leaves, hangs upside down with his wings open, tail swishing :). How do your birds do it in the shower? Do they rub their faces on the perch? Sassy bathes in her water dish, once or twice every two weeks. This is when she'll let me finish the job with my spray bottle :). Little Chip is scared to death of the spray bottle, I don't think he's ever bathed. I think I'll set a pie tin, filled with water, in his cage to see if he'll attempt a bath.

Good news on your rain Mare :) This is nothing new for us :(

I would love to see a video of Amigo rolling around in the wet leaves and hanging upside down :)

Codie hates the shower with a vengeance :( I have to spritz him with a water bottle. He loves this and would happily stand there all day :)

Wendy, I wish I knew how to post videos :(. I've done it before by paste-ing on to youtube and going from there but then my IPad decided, no more! That was a while ago, I need to try again as my IPad has a mind of it's own :)

Does Codie raise his wings so that you can get his pits wet? I swear, if Amigo doesn't get showered a few times a week, he smells like a boys locker room! :th_eek:

Yes, give it another go :) Just shout if you get stuck.

Oh yes, Codie lifts his wings and turns round and round. He loves it, it is just the normal shower he is terrified of :(

It is now 7:00pm here and still raining. Amigo is hunkered down in his tree and won't budge. I've been calling and calling to no avail :(. I've come to the realization that birds don't fly in the rain, they close up their feathers and shut down shop. I'm hoping he will make the move soon, it's getting dark and I'm sure he's getting hungry.

So happy it's raining there, I know it's been dry as a bone. Here in the sunshine state it's been doing nothing but rain for a year. I have horses so it's no fun slopping around in the mud everyday. Clover loves the shower or the spray bottle. Kilo hates showers. He will play in a tray of water when I vacuum though, it's the weirdest thing. I hope Amigo came in for the night.

Good for you and your part of the country with rain, Mare! We've had a few light showers off & on in the past couple of weeks. But nothing that will help our terrible drought and lack of water in the lake behind my house. We mostly get tornado & hail threatening weather this time of the year. We've already had a few hail storms, but not too large hail yet!:(

Did you finally get Amigo in the house? Hope he came in. Has he ever stayed out all night? That would terrify me if one of mine were out all night cause I couldn't get to them in a tree.

Roscoe likes showers, but just sits still til it's over with. None of the rest like to go into the shower, so I rarely take him. I use my pump up sprayer and wet them down in their homes. Roscoe and Angel will spread their wings and love getting every inch soaked. Angel wiggles & hangs by one claw to get every drop he can. Roscoe dances & twists & hangs upside down like the clown he is while I'm spraying him. Leyla Belle sometimes spreads her wings & other times just stands still & lets the water run off her back. She is always excited to see the sprayer as much as the macaw boys are.

Ruby Jewel literally hates to be sprayed. She will go to the back of her enclosure and squawk at me in a mournful way. She doesn't like the shower any better. Sometimes she wants to bathe in the kitchen sink, a Green Wing doesn't fit so well. She will only get her head & a feather of two wet. I need to find a large tub of some kind and see if she'd rather bathe on her enclosure floor.

Sierra will gget down on the bottom of her cage and scream, Ewok!! As she is fanning her stubby tail and looking just like a mini Amazon. LOL I swear she is just a tiny version of a Zon! The budgies flit about while being sprayed. Some get close to the spray and others try to get away from it. Afterwards they go about sipping the water droplets off the limbs.

No, Amigo did not come in last night :(. I was worried for him but thankfully the rain stopped, he crawled down into his hole for the night. He has slept outside many times in the warm summer months, never in rain and cold. As soon as the sun came up he popped out of his hole and spent an hour grooming himself on a sunny branch. I went out and called him in to eat, he couldn't get there fast enough, he was starving! He's the whitest I've ever seen him :). He ate well and is now napping on the highest rope perch in his cage. I'm thankful he's ok, he's one tough bird!

That's funny about Kilo jumping in the water when the vacuum gets going! Little Sierra sounds adorable, De'Andrea, all the birds do, I love seeing them enjoy a good rain! :th_biggrin:

I'm so glad Amigo is ok. I was worried when I read the post last night. Glad he had his hole to sleep in. Poor hungry guy!! :)

I'm so happy to hear that he ended up ok last night. I didn't read this until this morning so I didn't worry as long as everyone else, but I still worried. I bet he was starving by the time he came in. lol

Thank you Kendra and Debra :). I think I worried enough for everyone! I'm was thankful that the rain had stopped but had a restless night, not much sleeping got done. Baby boy is home, safe and sound :)

Phew! I have only just read this about Amigo being out all night in his tree. I am glad he is okay though :)
