I'll let the pics speak for themselves.. 208620872088

The owner ran an exotic bird show.. His birds all looked poorly kept..

They look so unhappy with wings drooping. I don't blame you.

The worst part is that this guy was weezing... He tried reaching out for me.. And the guy was like.. He bites.. You must stay away... I simply old him that he's lucky idiots around here don't know anything about these birds... And that I KNOW how poorly they're being cared for..

Some had crap on their beaks.. This guy also favored his right wing... I hate situations like this.. Cause what do you do?? The community seems to love it.. But the morons don't know what these poor birds are going through... My wife was almost in tears.. I was very very irritated..

That is NOT a happy Hy :(. What else did he do with them there? How long was the Hy forced to remain on the PVC stub? I can't stand to see birds treated like slaves! Especially for the purpose of some dictatorial owner trying to impress folks! :'(

Aren't there guide lines in place for these type of events? I wouldn't know but I would sure hope so! I don't blame you for being pissed, either. If we could only save them all..

If we could only save them all..Guidelines exist but are not enforced consistently in many areas. You almost have to prove an animal is being deliberately abused in many cases. One can try reporting such cases to the SPCA or PETA if active chapters exist in their area. It's such a heartbreaking thing :(

The most effective method of dealing with this is to express your displeasure with the organizers of the event...preferably on their own social media site. When it hits the event planner's reputation things change very quickly

Nah.. I prefer the more direct route.. He was at it again today.. So... Sorry folks.. If Noone else stands up for em.. I will.. I brought my vet with me.. And I told him to either take care of his birds or I'd be back.. With documentation to remove them all.. My vet took pics and is writing up a report in how poor the birds look and how bad their health appears to be... I'm filling it in the courthouse tomorrow...

He's already called my vet.. And scheduled appoints for all of the birds this week!!!
Terry is taking them all in as a favor to me.. As long as he follows up.. WE WIN THIS ONE!!

Thank you, Brandon!

You know what?! It's folks like you that make a difference! I truly hope it opens the eyes of this person that is showing these birds.

Happy to hear you are not going to let this lie Brandon. Surely with your vet to back up the appearance of this jerk's birds' health, you will be able to initiate an investigation into his bird keeping practices.

It just makes me wonder how a person can afford and own such a majestic beauty as a Hyacinth and not care for him better. One of the problems with this kind of thing going on and the public doing nothing about it in my opinion is that too many of the folks in the audience have no idea what a healthy happy parrot should look like. All they see is entertainment and a creature they are afraid of at best. It takes parrot people to know the difference and speak up for it as you have done Brandon. :)

I wish... No he's made documentation to make authorities aware of their condition... And if he doesn't make moves to improve it.. Then we're hoping one of the local bird rescues will... I'm talking to a group out of Houston.. Good idea though..

I appreciate the support.. I'm not sure he's going to keep his word on the vet visits... We're going to make this short and sweet if we can.. Those birds looked so tortured... Especially the one pictured...

He had a blue n gold that had crap all over its beak.. And some other birds.. That people gave him.. Because they thought he could better take care of em.. :( >:-<

I'm talking to a group out of Houston.. Good idea though..I see. By "take them all in" you obviously meant take on each of the birds as patients. I was gonna say that I wasn't aware a vet could confiscate someone's animals based upon conclusions reached during examination. I think, however, that many vets will 'hold' animals until an owed payment for services is received.

I absolutely wish the very best outcome for those poor guys!

Good for you Brandon! It's a pity there are not more people like you that are willing to speak up!

I am so hoping for a good outcome on this! The Hy in the pic just looks so sad :th_sad7:

Thank you.. But I'm no hero.. All of you would do the same.. I'm just a big enough pain in the butt to be loud and outspoken.. I know you all would stand beside me if you were here.. If we don't stick up for em... Who will?

I just saw this. Brandon, you are awesome! I am with you. Animals and children don't have a voice to speak for themselves. People like you make all the difference. Looking forward to reading what happens.

Love the pics if Rain advising you. :)

Brandon -- do you know what the vet thinks after seeing the birds?

94lt1
04-19-2014, 10:47 PM
The hyacinth and he scarlet were both OK.. The hyacinths beak was trimmed and talons. They're not "happy" but they're not neglected... In the physical sense.. The hyacinths right wing had been injured.. But no way of telling how or when.

The other birds were put off until Tuesday by the moron. I mean.. Guy.. But he was warned by the vet to follow through.. So Idk..

I'm glad to know the Hy and the Scarlet are more or less okay. I only wish they were happy as well :(

Can you ask the owner of these birds to provide them with a more adequate perch stand than the stubby PVC structure shown in your photos of the Hy? That stand seems bordering on abusive to me. Especially if the birds are forced to sit on it for any length of time.

The other birds are to be in tomorrow and Thursday.. He's been told about the psychological well being of the birds and how they're more than a stage prop..

His response I'm told was one of shock.. And followed up with a "these birds are my friends and I love them more than life itself" to which Terry(my vet) replied.. If this is how you treat friends.. Then I surely wouldn't want to be one.. Over his head probably..

I'm venturing a guess that this poor excuse of a human will never change anything about his birds' care. It's going to take someone actually taking them away and even then I doubt he will get the message. He sees nothing wrong with his care or setup for his show. Very sad indeed and I do hope your involvement gets the notice it deserves and someone looks into his home care for them. I shudder to think what conditions they are actually living in and the size of caging they are enduring. :(

More has happened with this.. Idk if it will result in any action other than this clown receiving a warning about his treatment of his birds... Meaning the pvc pipe perches..

Poor birds..poor, poor, birds :(. I find it hard to have faith in our system to protect them. I know there are good, reputable breeders out there but how do you truly know your baby bird is going into good hands? How do you let them go without knowing? Poor birds..

Eh.. Actually.. If you think about it.. That would draw attention to this..

Man beats the hell out of parrot abuser...says he'd do it again lol...

But my news... Is that some authorities have been made to see what's up.. And that's all I can say..
