View Full Version : The wild turkeys are back!
In full force! They are all over the property. The males posing for each other, the females ignoring them and probably thinking they are silly idiots :). The other day I kept hearing a bang, I was in the kitchen, I thought the dogs were doing something on the deck. After closer investigation, I found this HUGE male turkey slamming himself against his own reflection, into a sliding glass door window on our downstairs patio! :th_eek: I had to shoo him a way several times and finally set a lawn chair in front of the window!

I always love your photos. Love some of their feathers too.
Thanks, Dianne! There are so many moments around here, that I wish I had a camera on me! :). This morning, for example, Amigo was going off on birds in the palm frawns. He flew over and claimed his territory, rather quickly!

Wild turkeys are awesome~~til they try to fly and crash into your windshield of your pickup~~pickup going 70 mph & said turkey going maybe 15 mph and barely 4ft off the ground putting his brakes on (feet sliding across the PU hood). :(
We used to have a Road Runner that would fight with his image in the sliding glass door and the chrome bumper on the pickup. LOL

They are beautiful. What does Amigo do with them? It's funny that it was attacking itself. Silly turkey.
Kim, Amigo is use to them being in the yard, to him, they are just a dog or cat cruising around. A couple years ago, we had one that got very friendly and would come up on the deck to drink water from the dog's bowl and peck around Amigo's outside cage for leftovers. Amigo would fly down to the railing and check her out. She would do this very strange move, something I've never seen before. She knew he was watching her and she would flatten her tail, back and neck into a straight flat, table-top and just pose like that for a few minutes! Very bizarre!

They are awesome! I am so envious of all the wildlife you have. It must be so much fun watching it all.
Do you think the turkey was doing a female "pose" for Amigo? (Don't know if they do that). Maybe she had a crush on the handsome guy!! I know I do!!! ;)
Heehee! Thanks Kendra :). That's what I was thinking also but I've never seen the females, in the yard, do that before. I think. I may have taken a pic, I'll have to go through the archives to see if I can find it.
