I Went Walking With Mom Today

Twas another nice day for us down here in the south. So Ruby Jewel and I went for a walk. She loved it outside of course and kept trying to get my bottle of water. She wanted the lid from it.

Again, for those who are new here and don't know, I don't use a harness on her because she will never be able to fly. She is missing the folded part of her left wing. It is not very noticeable now that her feathers have grown in on that side.

She is a beautiful bird I hope she gives you all the pleasure my Bogie has given me she's old now don't know how many years we'll have left together but I'm hopeful she's a very healthy 37

She's a total sweetheart, but of course she has her moments as all macaws do. She has a long long ways to go to catch up to your Bogie. She says, "Mom is gonna' try to keep up with me for that many years. :)"

Thanks Kendra. Miss Ruby Jewel says she wished Rosie lived closer and they could go walking together. Oh what mischief they could get into! LOL The neighborhood would never be the same.

Thanks Terri! I thought that photo Jerry caught of us both looking up was neat. It wasn't a hawk, just some fast flying brown bird. Went too fast to really identify it, but not fast enough for Ruby Jewel. She saw it right away. LOL

Thanks Anita. Our kids certainly do love the outdoors, don't they. I only wished it was as easy to take Roscoe & Leyla Belle outside. Neither one likes the harness and I won't take a chance of losing them without it.

Thanks Wendy & Mare. I have several of these summer sun dresses I got several years ago from Drug Emporium of all places. I just love them cause they are cool, and made of polyester type material so they feel slinky and smooth. Coming from there I think they were only $10.00 a piece! I'm such a spend thrift on my clothes. I save the big bucks for my bird collection. LOL

Mare I think my hair is a ratty mess and the Texas winds didn't help it any. Believe it or not that is my natural color and I'll be 59 in August. I think it knows I hate the red overtones so it refuses to turn completely grey! :( I cut about 6" off a few months ago and Jerry almost had heart failure. I made him do the cutting and it was the first time I'd cut any other than bangs in over 40 yrs. LOL

Thanks Tony, Ruby Jewel and I do share a special bond I think. I owe more of her loving personality to her breeder Kitty than my parrot skills. She spent all day every day with Ruby Jewel while she was hand feeding her. She did spoil the big red girl and really wished she could have kept her. Kitty stays in touch by FB, haven't convinced her to join here yet. :(
