in the evening when beaker starts to get sleepy he will beg for attention, pushing his little head under my hand for rubs, making "baby noises", and trying to climb on me, but then when he gets the attention he is looking for he gets mad and bites the crap out of me. is beaker insane, or do other birdies do this?

Codie does not do this when he is sleepy but, he does get very moody at other times. When he is like this he will bite hard :(

Rosie gets kooky if I let her have sugar. (Like a taste of ice cream). Haven't noticed much when she is tired.

Sounds like beaker is like a tired toddler. You know how they go from twirling around in circles giggling to a crying mess on the floor when they are overtired? :)

When I first brought my macaw boys home they would hang on the enclosure door begging for attention at bedtime. I would just tell them they had to go night-night and they soon quit doing that. Ruby Jewel was used to staying out all day at her breeder's so she was not pleased to go in for bed. She never gave me any trouble when I picked her up from her play perch, but once inside her enclosure she would walk the floor til she got tired climbed back to a perch and went to sleep. She still walks the floor on most nights once the lights which are on timers go out and I cover her on the nights I am not working. The other birds don't have any problem going to sleep when the lights go out.
