Found this on FB. Wanted to share since some of you have some really old birds that might be thinking this.

Will you still love ......

Will you still love me when I am old....

When my wings are tired, will you carry me...

When I'm no longer beautiful, will you still love me..

I've entertained you with my songs....

I've watched your children grow...

I've learned the words you taught me...

I've sat in this cage for years...

Eventhough in my heart I wish I had been born free...

I am a living creature with feelings and a soul....

Please.........Don't abandon me.....

Will you still love me when I am old....

When my wings are tired, will you carry me...

You're both welcome Wendy and Debra. :)

It is a very touching poem and I would have thought more folks here would have connected with it in some way. And get it meaning. Guess it is not so special to most, but I understand the meaning behind it even if I don't have any old birds.

Very touching poem. My birds are fairly young but my two large dogs are 10 and 11 and I often wonder how much more time we are going to have together. I can't even imagine not wanting them because they are old.

I love the meaning of the words. Makes a few tears.

I'm crying my eyes out. I only wish I could carry Mina when she is old. I'm saving money in an account to give to the sanctuary that I place her with when I pass away. Grrrr now I'm crying harder.

Very beautiful and touching. So true. But we could all apply that to any of the animals we have in our lives. I am old and retired and home all the time here. I have 3 dogs, 2 cats, and my Ziggy. I am truly thankful for all of them in my life. They bring me such joy and comfort not to mention all the love. My life is blessed because of them.

Same here for me too Kim & Ron. I am not a young person tho unfortunately not retired yet. But I still plan on being in my birds lives for many years to come. :th_hug8:

Lori and Ron I agree, I have dogs also and I have had one to live to be 17 yrs old. That was not nearly long enough for me and I still grieve his passing to this day. He was my best friend in dog paws, my velcro puppy, my Jon La Croix. A black miniature poodle that was supposed to be a tiny toy and I loved every inch of his long skinny legs! LOL
