Hey everyone,
I'm looking into buying Harrison's food for my birdies. Right now they get Zupreem natural pellets (which really aren't so natural,LOL). That's what my Alexandrine was eating when I got him. My goffins too was eating seeds when I got him but is eating the pellets now. I have some questions before I order their new food. I'm thinking I will order the high potency formula but don't know if I should get the course or the fine for the size of my birds. I'm also looking into Harrison's Sunshine factor. Has anybody given that a try? Do your birds like it? Do you see a difference?
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

Any of the birds I have had or have now ate Harrison's pellets. I get the fine for cockatiel and extra fine for budgies. African grey ate the course and loved them. I would say any bird larger than a cocatiel or conure would eat the course. The HP was what I ordered and still do.

I think they will send samples if you ask the company.

Thank you, It's hard to tell the actual size of the pellet on the internet. I wanted to find something for them that can be left longer than a couple of hours while I'm at work.

I use the Harrisons Pellets and they can be left for more than a couple of hours. The pellets themselves are about 1/4 inch square.
This is the one I use...

I have the Sunshine Factor supplement and my picky eater, Amigo will not go near it. My Goffin's, Sassy, will eat it if I disguise it in her peanut butter shmeer that I put on a cracker for her. I don't think I've noticed a difference in her health, due to this supplement, but it sure makes me feel better knowing she is getting it :)

Well, I ordered it and I hope that they like it and will eat it. That sunshine factor sounds like it's good enough for me to eat. LOL. The shipping seemed to be a bit expensive. I think I will have to find a place that sells it locally if I can. It would probably be a little cheaper that way. I got the course HP. I'm pretty sure Kilo the goffins can handle that and Clover my Alex can too. I'll give them their fruits and veggies when I am home. As for the seeds and nuts, they love them. I am going to start clicker training both of them so the seeds will be saved for that.

I love Roudybush. I have seen so many birds have great turn around with it. Cold pressed Coconut oil and palm oil (What Sun Shine factor is made of) Are great add in to foods. Do watch how much amazons and other types gets it is vary high kcal . The ones who need the most are Grays and Macaws. Another great supplement is Aloa Vera juice. Add to water or soak into food it is a amazing liver boaster.

I was looking at Roudybush also. Maybe I'll get that as well and see which one they like best. I have aloe growing in my yard and I use it for everything. I give the birds a little slice of it two or three times a week and they really like it. I also use aloe juice in my horses feed.

I do no think many people know that Amazon sells Harrisons and a lower price than most places. If you are a prime member there is no shipping charge. I get mine there. [Users must be registered and logged in to view attached photos or hyperlinks] llets+bird&keywords=harrisons+pellets+bird&ie=UTF8
Before you go with High Potency, consider the lifestyle of your bird. If it get s lots of exercise (including flight) daily, High Potency is good. If his exercise is walking from the food bowl to the water dish, don't use it as you are likely to have health concerns

Roudybush will send samples. I contacted them to see if they would send me some to try on my flock and they did. Unfortunately my flock looked at the pellets and walked away. They refused to eat them, probably because their pellets don't look like other pellets.

Harrisons recommend 6 months of High Potency then switching to there Maintenance.

I ordered the High Potency. The goffins flies, the alex does not but his feathers are growing in so we'll see if he can. If not I will teach him. I'll give them this for a little while and then probably switch to the maintenance. I'll also give the roudybush a try.

I love mixing up my pellets. I will even buy the dreaded Fruity colored ones from time to time. Every one like to switch it up and eat junk food. :D

We have been using harrisons hp for many years now.Everyone fron small conures to greenwing macaws get it.We have noticed improvement in feather appearance and strength on birds that came to us on a differant pettet.Overall I would never feed them any other pellet.Of course keep up with the fruit and veggies. The sunshine factor never appealled to my birds.

Has anyone here heard that Harrison's pellets has clay in them? This is what I was told by another forum member?

I have never heard about clay in Harrison's pellets either. I guess I should do a little Google research on it. I do know that many South American parrots regularly go to areas in the sides of hills and eat on the clay deposits available to them. It has nutrients they instinctively know they need. Probably not the same kind of clay you are meaning could be in the pellets tho.
