Wow. You made me do some math! Lucy was thought to be 13 when I got her in 2008 so that makes her 19.

Tequi;a [my zon] was a wild caught bird . Theirs record of him being at least 30.But I have this gut feeling hes quite abit older. Pearl and Belly are in their late 20s [for sure].Tequila acts way older. I bet Greys new Macaw is pretty old. :)
My birds are mere babies, Sassy 10 and Amigo going on 15. I bet I have the oldest dog here,,a female dachshund, 18yrs old and still unwilling to give up the ghost! I can't wait to hear how old Grey's macaw is!

Mine are all young. No oldies in my house.
Hello everybody,
My DYH Amazon named Beertje is in her late 30's. So almost 40.
She has no ring, so I do not have the exact hatchday-information.
I think Beertje must have hatche in the year 1975, 1976 or 1977.
I have her since the 25th. of February 2009, so 5 years already.
My Jenday Conure Jopie hatched at the 9th. of May 2004, so he's going to be 10 in less then two months from now.
Greetings from the Netherlands,
Rita

Looks like you are in the lead so far Rita :)
What's the normal, if healthy, life span of an Amazon? Are they in the OLD guy range of 60-80 years?

Yes, there is someone on FB who's Amazon is coming up for 100 :th_shocking:
Yikes! Wendy, you better start pushing on your kids to crank out some more! You need some great-great grandchildren to keep up with Codie! :th_hehe:

Hello Mare,
I have been told normally about 55.
But there are those rare ocasions of Amazons in their eighties or even older.
Let's hope Beertje will become one of them!

This doesnt count as a have...since he passed away. However we had a yellow collared macaw Simon, who lived to 48.We didnt have him until he was almost all the way there, but he is one that will always have a special place in my heart. Our youngest is Tia our little Hahns at a playful 4 3/4 months. Our oldest would be our mullucan Peaches, who will turn 18 on june 18.

Hey Terri, I think Dave has you beat with totals on birds. LOL That is a very impressive list and age for a mini macaw to live to.
Sorry to hear you didn't get to be in Simon's life for very much of those years. I bet he loved you for taking him in and loving him for the time you had together, Dave. :)

Yes Simon was indeed a treasure to me.He had his final breath cuddled on my chest.I wish I had him longer but he had a long life for a mini macaw.
