OK folks, don't fall out of your chairs or think me crazy, but at my age I am expecting! Yep, I definitely have 'The Baby Bird Bump':th_pinklol2:

Alright the gig's up. I'm not actually expecting to lay a baby bird egg and hatch it, But...I am now just today/tonight 'A Lady In Waiting' for my baby parrot to hatch, wean and come home to my wide outstretched open arms! :th_biggrin:

Ahhh, I have ya'll wondering what kind of gorgeous prancing, strutting, feathered wonder did I set my cap for this time? Another macaw maybe, they are my favorite? Another Green Wing? They are definitely my favorite! Nope!! :th_hehe:

Tired of guessing by now, I should expect. So I shall tell all ya'll, my good friends and flock that I have absolutely gone off the deep end and went and paid a deposit on a Cockatoo!! A Rose Breasted Cockatoo at that!!! Yep I will soon have a 'Pink Birdie' in my flock like you Terri.

Now for the details of how this has come about. This time off I decided to look about online for RB2 breeders and found there is actually an aviary in Texas. They are still around 300 miles from me, but very drivable and I don't have to be totally stressed out worrying about my baby on a plane and something happening to it. I was just testing the waters on what is available and once I found this aviary I decided to send for more info. The guy got back with me today and said the eggs are hatching now and the first one hatched yesterday. So he is taking deposits to be on the waiting list for one after they hatch and he usually has 15 to choose from. I didn't want to miss out on this year's season and decided I was ready to be owned by a Too. :th_hug8:

The babies won't be weaned til the last of June and into July, so I have plenty of time to get a nice large comfy cage, build a play perch and get everything ready for the delivery. No photos of course yet since I only have claims to an eggie right now. I shall keep everyone updated on the baby bump as I have new info on how I'm...'er the eggie/fabie is progressing. :galah:

As you know, I have hands on experience with them, so I can tell you lots about their personalities :)

Congrats De'! I would be terrified of having a 'too in my house. I know next to nothing about them other than they tend to be needy birds if not raised right. I cannot wait to watch your little one grow from an egg to a beautiful adult!

Thanks everyone! I will definitely add photos when I have any sent to me. The breeder said he would send some once he gets them hatched, sorted and I have one assigned to me. :)

Terri I remember you telling me you could give me your breeder's info and I could get one of hers. I was just looking (like how many folks on here believe that?!!) and when I found there is a breeder in my own state I decided to give it a try. I much prefer to drive to pick up the baby than to stress out over a plane flight. But, should none of his babies make it or he runs out before my waiting number is up, I will definitely be checking with your breeder. :th_biggrin:

I have to go take my nap now, tis another work week tonight. :(

Wow! Congratulations!! One thing for sure, you will be a good mama! I've never been around one of the pink ones and Terri would know if they aren't like the other 'toos. Not that there is anything WRONG with the others :). Can't wait for pics, and hearing all about it!

De'Andrea,Welcome to "TOO TOWN" the home of the food slinging screaming mimi's :). I think this is the time of year eggs do start coming [mine were hatched in April and May). Toos can be picky eaters [so don't fret]. Mine throw everything they out of their bowls :) Tolerated being sprayed down [didn't love it]. Love to be pet through the bars [their cheeks puff up] .Can be afraid of new toys [they seem to see colors more vividly than my others] They are busy birds ]but are loving too] . Like a big deal made about them :) Just sharing about my Rb2s Owen and Jennifer.

I feel your excitement. You are the proud mama of one of the prettiest birds on the planet! Well an egg anyway. Is it too far to visit? You could help feed yours and that would be the beginning of a close bond. Big hugs to you. You will have to keep a journal for us.

Yes Dianne it is definitely too far for me to visit the babies. They are in the Austin area which is our state capital going down in the hill Country as it is called due to the hilly green areas. They are around 300 miles one way from me. I've been to & through Austin many times, it will be an all day trip for me when I go get the Too. I am a long way from all the breeders but one that I know of. That aviary is 70 miles away from me, but they don't raise any species I'm interested in. Wished I were closer, but not an option. :(

Terri, I feel you have pretty much described living with macaws. LOL My big kids are famous for tossing food all over the place and destroying anything they can get their beaks on. :) They aren't so fast on their feet when on the ground, but the rest is close. I know I'm being silly with my thoughts that a Too will be the same as a macaw to live with. I have owned at one time or another a Parrot from most of the species available, it is time to add a Too to my repertoire. LOL

Oh and I don't care which I get, male or female. I just want it sexed so I know. So I have chosen it's name already. My new baby shall be known as: Dakota Nakira'Too I think that will fit either male or female. And I think I have the style of cage picked out already, not bought yet, but I have plenty of time for that!

Thanks everyone one for sharing in my excitement and helping me with pointers on becoming a new Too Mommy. :) ( I'm on my smiley hating phone again so no cute smileys today)

De'Andrea, you always manage to come up with such special names for your birds :) I love the name "Dakota Nakira" Too! :th_heart:

Toos are kinda hyper :) Macaws even though they have their moments [have a layed back way about them compared to Toos]

'Toos are hyper?! I think they are normal birds! :th_biggrin: They fill my heart, THAT..they do!

Thanks Wendy, I guess I lean toward not so common names that can & do border on downright weird sometimes. But, when you have a weird first name like mine, it is normal to pick weird names for your critters.:th_hehe:

A[Users must be registered and logged in to view attached photos or hyperlinks] thanks Wendy & Maddy. :th_hug8: I do love my name, but you got to admit it is not a normal name you hear very often. Thanks for loving my choice of a 'Pink Birdie' name too. Still no word on my egg hatching or rather ready for me to choose one. The guy at the aviary says they are beginning to hatch, I'm guessing he lets them stay with their parents for the first 3 weeks like most parent hatched babies are allowed to do. So it will be a little longer before I have one I can actually claim. :)

I have heard your name a few times, but I always thought this name was French? I have always loved the name "De'Andrea". It sounds very regal :)

Turquoise

That is funny Wendy, it does sound French in a way. I don't really know what nationality it actually is. My Mom took the name from the last name of an actor on the old series in the 50s "The Life Of Riley". There was an actor by the name of 'Tom D'Andrea' on there. I can't remember the show, but last year a lady on FB messaged me that she had never seen anyone else with the same name as her with the same spelling. She is actually one of the ladies that did have a parrot rescue near the Dallas area, but I think that one closed down when one of the owners had medical problems and they could no longer keep it open. That is what I read on their site awhile back.

Anyway I decided to research this 'Tom D'Andrea' and sure enough he was an actor on "The Life Of Riley", but his last name does not have the "e" after the "D" like my Mom spelled my name. I think he was of Italian decent from what I read. :)

No new news about my Rosie yet. They are still hatching and I will know more as soon as they pull the babies for hand feeding. I will keep everyone who is interested in knowing more posted when I know something more.

It just sounds a very french name and I love it :)

When your little Rosie finally hatches, hopefully your breeder will send you regular pics so we can watch her grow :)
