I have no problem with it. The majority of scientific studies seem to support the premise that parent reared birds do not develop self mutilating behaviors as much as hand reared birds. The law also specifically allows socialization so that the birds are accustomed to being handled by humans. The myth that a hand fed bird is the only way to get a sweet cuddly bird is just that: a myth. I have had many hand reared birds that were evil incarnate and just as many parent reared birds that were the most delightful pets. My first amazon was wild caught (early 1980's) and he was a great pet, even though he was a bit of a curmudgeon. At least they are passing laws based on scientific evidence, unlike here in the US

I have never hand reared a parrot from start to finish, only finished one out years ago which took another 5 months for a Nanday who didn't want to let go of being a baby. And the usual comfort feedings when they first come home. So I certainly can't say pro or con about the impact it will cause on parent verses human raised babies. All of mine I have now are human hand reared, so I don't have a parent reared parrot to compare the difference with.

I can see your point George and I do agree that a hand reared bird doesn't mean it will be sweet and cuddly. At least not for life as we all know the humans in its life have the most influence in how it will be when it reaches maturity and on into old age.
